Looking forward to a summer of drophead fun (and my wedding the following day) my TR7 suffered a serious and immediate loss of power and came to a grinding halt at the corner of a field in Hertfordshire, sounding like someone had given me a bag of spanners in the engine as a present. Very minor investigations (such as starting the engine) provides evidence of something rather serious and terminal. Suggestions from the local experts come in the form of a new engine. Others think it may be a loose or missing valve spring. Unfortunately as I have just paid for a wedding, plus my better half has a preference for a rather more ‘serious’ family car, and I live in France, my only option is to put the car in storage and hope I can afford to do something with it later in the year, or even next year. My only problem now is how to move it! I don’t have another car with a towbar, so does anyone know of a transport company in the area, who can provide me with a competitive price.
