  1. Till yesterday The problem seem disappears, today i take The car And The juddering appear again.

    If The problem was OIL leak in The clutch, why for 3 months i haven t problem?

    Is possible The cause is other?

     

    Ps The juddering today was very high

  2. Hi, in my tr3a build in 1960 without overdrive. I had The follow problem:

    When i put 1 gear And i go the car have high vibration. After going the vibration end and no vibration

    Changing gear untill i stop The car and go again (like at trafficlights).

    I need to solve this problem because my fear si to have some problems at differentials in The future.

    Could you Help me to' solve it?

     

    In the gear box i put penrite gb40 yesterday And with this OIL The vibration seem very high than 80/90

  3. Dear friend

    I find The problem, The pressure gauge flexible hose (near The fuel pump) is broken and from it fall down The oil.

     

    Is possible it broke for high oil pressure or because is older?

     

    If The engine was without oil The water temperature grow up isn t it? ( i say that because when i parked The car The water temperature was ok so there is possibility to not damage engine for not oil inside)

    Not loose oil filter (i checked it when i saw The oil in The floor)

    The pressure oil was normal after The first 15 miles after i don t know because there was a lot of traffic in The road and i

    Don t Saw The gauge and absolutly no nasty noise.

     

    Tomorrow i try to start The engine to identify The leak anyway , at Now seem The are 2 big oil spot one under the clutch piston

    And one under The engine-gearbox (little bit on The left side)

     

    When i started engine and leaved garage absolutly no smoke, i don t know if The car began to smoke during The drive (but don t think so)

  5. Hi

    Today a run with my tr3a for arround 1 hour. (Arround 30 miles)

    When i put it in garage i Saw oil on The floor out of The garage

    So i cotrolled The oil level, but there isn t oil , i try to put 2 liter of oil inside

    And just Now i see The oil .

     

    Before run The car The oil was at half size

    So how is possible lost so big quantity of oil?

    How is possible to check that engine not have had problems causated by low oil quantity ?

  6. Hi, from arround Two year The car Have not overheating (normal run 180 f) and not water loss, The car

    Before i decide to remove pistons to change rings and rod bearings (about 10 days ago) run Very well,

    Engine start easy and not problem even long trip.

    The only problem was oil , arround 1 kg for 150 miles so i decided to change rings and rod bearing

     

    If i must replace The main bearings i pull off The engine, but i prefer if possible don t change The main bearings till next year,

    So if i re put only The main bearing you Saw in The photo and new 4 rod bearing can i have problems for next 5000 miles or not?

     

  7. Yes, when i bought The car there was water contamination in the oil, for that The head was all rebuild.

    I removed all The big ends, and they are in not good condition ( lost The gray color) we have measured The big end journals

    They are not ovality and They have The right size (size take from book manual).

    I bought new old stock standard size ae big ends bearing to change

     

    Can i install The old main bearing in photos without problems? I d like remove The engine next year and do all or much better do all Now ?( Every year i do arround 4000 miles)

  8. I'm changing the rod bearing before to change its i controlled the centre main bearing i thought it was good...

    but it seem still good, but in the right side i see a surprise could you say me what 's happen?

    and can i re put it ? or better change it? but if i change it must change the front and rear bearing or not?

    ( i say that because i'd like avoid remove the engine)

    1. 10,70 161,70

    2. 11,15 165,33

    3. 11,35 167,50

    4. 11,10 159,53

     

    Hot test with 10 ml OIL in each cylinder

    1. 11,15 155,18

    2. 11,40 161,70

    3. 11,55 164,60

    4. 11,00 160,98

     

    the problem i have is a high oil consumption (1 litre for 300 miles) and spark 1 and 3 oil wet (often they stop to run) for the other all is very good, the car run very well, the idle is very good the oil pressure very good .

    i did the test because i'd like to know is enough to change only the rings to solve the problems

    help is very appreciate :)

    4. 7,65

     

    Hot test

    1. 10,70

    2. 11,15

    3. 11,35

    4. 11,10

     

    Hot test with 10 ml OIL in each cylinder

    1. 11,15

    2. 11,40

    3. 11,55

    4. 11,00

     

    The Spark s cylinder n. 1 and 3 are little OIL wet

    The head was rebuilt 1 year ago

  11. dear tr register friend

    i have little problem with my tr3a, with 1 kg of oil i drive only for max 300 miles.

    The head was rebuilt last year, i think the problem is on the rings.

     

    First question:

    I read on the manul from new the correct cosumption is 1 kg every 750 miles, is it right?

    how many miles do you drive with you tr with 1 kg of oil?

     

    secon question:

    could you advise me some additives to add at oil? (like sintoflon or rothen or some others)

     

    third question:

    changing only the rings is right thing to do or not solve the problem?

    (some friends say me to change the bearings too, but to change its i must take off

    the motor so if i must do it i think better rebuild the all motor (changing pistons and sleevs too)
