Im getting a loud whirring noise coming from what i think is the non return valve, ive taken the valve to David Manners but none of there tr6 non return valves match mine. They showed me there servo units and it was totally different to the valve thats on my servo,so please could somebody identify what its off or why i cant match them up,it looks original to me,cheers Paul.
-
The non return valves they stock didnt match mine, something so simple turns into a mission.
-
I felt it may be the diaphragm,so popped down to Manners but theyve got nothing matching my non return valve to fit my servo, ill try and put on a picture to see if anybody can match my servo, very weird whats it off?
-
Ive just had a good slow runout and filled up with shell vpower, its improved things and only run on for a second or two,ill carry on running in the engine and hopefully it may correct itself, thanks so much for your knowledge,no doubt more questions to come, cheers Paul.

Very loud whirring noise from servo that sounds like lotto balls floating around ball. When accelerating disappears when not really loud, the rubber seal on the elbow had worn but cannot source the part now,so ive sealed it with no leaks, but to no avail.Do you think it could be the little valve in the elbow or could it be something in the servo that may be the problem, cheers.

Timing is 12 deg, aldons figures, they did say definitely run on v power, only just found out it was fitted with an hotter cam previously, could that have an impact on it,i will let aldon know this too.Would different spark plugs make a difference,im now going to run the engine in a few hundred miles see how it settles.
-
Sorry Mick,tr6 1971,twin su`s,bp6es plugs(aldon said should be bpr6es with electronic ignition)richer carb needles, jet conversion,150 bhpcam part no 307689,full engine rebuild crank up etc etc etc.
-
Right`engine just rebuilt, compression 200 which they think is too high, but on the running in stage it was pinking and running on when turning ignition off, just taken it to aldon in the west midlands.Stripped the distributor and sorted what needed sorting, theyve cured the pinking but its still running on,all they can suggest is that it may be running a peakier cam of which im not sure, hence why its still running on.What do you think and where do i go from here,i feel as though im getting knowhere, the engineer as told me to carry on running it in when hes cured the oil leak and take it from there, please help.

My apologies,it wont seal from the adaptor to the block, engineer said there are 2 o rings and it looks like it needs a flat type of o ring,of which Manners couldnt match up.So can anybody point me in the right direction as this still isnt rectified, annoyingly, cheers.
-
Its leaking between filter and adaptor Poolboy, its a case of each failed attempt, its another gallon of oil.ref rocker oil feed kit Peejay,is it not needed or detremental in any way, excuse my ignorance but im not the hottest on the mechanical side of things.

Well i filled up with £61 shell v power and got 200 miles out of it,no pinking.Whilst in the depths of Wales filled up with 95ron,no pinking. But being as i was only revving to 2500 rpm and max speed 65mph im not sure whether i would of got any pinking up in the higher rev range.300 miles done,i will get another 300 miles on it and get everything checked over, torqued up etc,and try both fuels again and feel for any differences,on the fantastic north Wales roads inc the evo triangle, what a superb 20 mile loop.
-
Thanks folks, ill go and fill up with v power and see how things go,how many miles do you think i should do before i go and have the engine re torqued etc.
-
Hi there, ive just had my engine fully rebuilt, top and bottom. The engineer said that it seems to be pinking slightly, and now ive got to do the running in bit,not above 3000rpm,max70mph.He said it may have something to do with distributor or may just need running on super unleaded,so what would you envisage it to be,and is it necessary to run it on superunleaded, any tips will come in handy as im off to put a few hundred miles on it tomorrow around glorious Wales, cheers.

Hi there, does anybody no where i can get the seal only on the push in type non return valve, ive tried a search but cannot find the seal only, its about 8mm depth ridged, cheers.

A little update from my previous posts, just had engine comp test results are.no1 145,no2 145,no3 150,no4 175,no5 160,no6 162 with number 6 plug oiled. These figures are to inconsistent so what is it likely to be,the mechanic is going to remove the head next to see where the oil could be coming from,do these figures look worrying or might it be something simple.Any advice will be passed onto my mechanic if its something you feel it may be,cheers folks.

Ive now got it booked in at archers classic cars,so fingers crossed.
-
Hi Mike, could you please resend your pm,nothing in my inbox, cheers pal.

Yes folks,im in Dudley,West Midlands.Number 6 plug was wet with fuel, but now thats dry and 3and 4 are wet and black basically running on 4 cylinders.Im going to revert back to points and see whether things improve but how do you find a good local mechanic.Ive spent a lot of money and it barely drives now,its no good going back to the same mechanics,im not confident in my own abilities.I just need an experienced head who knows these cars as im at a loss now, cheers.

As a follow on from my previous post 11 feb, where plug number 6 was fouling, ive now taken it to another mechanic whos done a pressure test.checked plugs leads etc.Now plugs 3 and 4 are fouling with i think number 4 not firing at all.He is baffled now,he thinks it may be head gasket but the pressure was very good,or he said revert back to my old distributor,do away with electronic ignition and see if it runs like it did previously.I feel as though im being knocked from pillar to post spending money without getting an answer, soul destroying,PLEASE HELP.

Nice wheels mate
Have you stopped smiling yet
Yours too Clarkey`lovely.
Ive got to admit theyre very addictive.Ive just come from tvr`s and i cannot believe the attention they attract, possibly more than my tvr,but i hope its just to be a case of look but dont touch,or better still dont park it just drive it.

As a follow on from my childhood dreams photos, the car as had a few engine mods as listed`
3 WEBER 40 DCOE CARBURETORS.
CYLINDER HEAD BY ROLLING ROAD AUTOTUNE.
CRANKSHAFT,CON RODS,FLYWHEEL,LIGHTENED BY WILKINSON DYNAMIC BALANCING.
CAMSHAFT BY KENT CAMS,REF TH5.
FULL FLOW 6 BRANCH STAINLESS STEEL EXHAUST.
DISTRIBUTOR ADVANCE CURVE BY ALDON AUTOMOTIVE.
RED TOP HIGH CAPACITY FULL FLOW FUEL PUMP.
Thats from the list that ive got in front of me,so what bhp would i be expecting to get from these mods. Are these the typical type of mods, top end acceleration is very lively. Please enlighten me as im new to these cars, cheers.

As for engine modifications, there are a few so ill start a new post up,so hopefully get more feedback.ill put it under, engine modification gains, cheers.

Yes`to be honest,i had to look behond originality and by on condition primarily. It looks in great condition, and sounds simply superb, but those tripple carbs certainly like a drink, but its certainly music to my hears and well worth it,very intoxicating i must admit.
Please help me identify this servo(pictures)HELP.

Right, ive just had a new master cylinder as that sprung a leak, the original rubber grommet that i require split,so a well known tr expert said a good sealing compound would replicate the job of the original grommet.Corrosion was a result of the leak,i didnt want to buy another servo if its something so simple, what the hell could it be off then.
