  1. I used an analog Gunson Testune multimeter for yeas which does the traditional volts, amps and ohms + dwell and tachometer. Added a digital Draper multimeter 3 or so years ago. The draper has proved itself and was cheap and cheerful.

    Since 2004 this site had been serving up SU needle graphs. In October of 2017 the host it used closed its doors. The pain of porting 12 year old code to another host wasn't something I had the energy for.

     

    However, it turns out that the graphs were quite popular— far more popular than I gave them credit for. So, due to popular demand, I've decided that I had better keep this place going.

     

    Please bear with me whilst I port the code across to something a bit more modern.

  3. I think part of the problem is that the term "Hardness" when applied to metals has several meanings. The resistance to changing its shape usually tested by pressing a point onto the surface, indentation - where diamond is at one end of a scale with talc at the other is just one property.

     

    Other properties such as resistance to cutting or resistance to abrasion are also referred to as hardness. These other properties do not necessarily follow the same progression.
