Spot on Jean. I am also lucky enough to own a very original unrestored 68 Bonneville which I have loved for the last 26 years. I visited a classic bike meet last week to be told that the front mud guard bolts were incorrect. Good job I have a sense of humour !

The bearing at the rear of the dynamo should have a bung in it, this should be removed and a small amount of oil applied, every 2k should do it. If you have original wide belt setup fit a V belt this will grip and go round the rollers much easier without to much pressure applied to the belt,

Thanks Ash, As you say looks easy, the time will be restoring/painting the "new" one,

Thanks Pete, Looked in the Moss book and mine is bypass type, fortunately I have a full flow on a spare engine project. A job for the winter I think,

Peter, Is there anyway of checking which you have by looking externally at the unit fitted to the car, if not is it evident when changing the oil filter,
Thanks Dave

Hi Andrew, I think it looks OK with the side screens on, which is the way we travel any distance, not long back from the south of France, not one complaint from Mrs S !
It was 32 degs when there so side screens off most of the time and screen lowered and hidden under the hood stick cover by loosening two thumb screws and tilting back. So I agree without screens it does spoil the lines of the car.
Andrew King I will post some installation photo to you E mail address,

Why don't you want BreazeBreaker it was the best £100 spent on the car !

Sounds like air in the clutch hydraulics, bleed and try again. Suspect you will end up replacing the master or slave cylinder in the end to solve the problem as it's likely to re occur,

When I got my 3 it pulled to the left, after much checking the left side top wish bones were bent. Also on inspection the tyres were worn on one side, I suspect the the car had been like this for a while and the tyres had been swapped around to spread the worn tyres around ! New wish bones and tyre have transformed the car currently performing well in the south of France ????????????

I would agree with Roger, also don't sit there with you foot on the brakes that's another 42W ! Sounds like I have a similar original setup and have been in many a traffic jam without draining the battery. Now if it was at night that's another story ????

I would second that, also have seen a few flat batteries when the fans have continued to run.

Most painters know that a light application of fly spray keep the bats down and hence the amount of flatiing required to get a good finish. Did you know it's now ant season ????????????????????????????????

Well done Roger at least you made me smile on a night shift and that's not easy (ask the other half)
????

Tim it was quite easy ????

Could be one of the cells faulty and over charging causing acid/vapour corroding any exposed metals they come into contact with. Is the voltage regulator operating correctly, this might be causing over charging. Vaseline on the battery post will stop corrosion there. Another solution is to use a sealed battery this will stop all corrosion problems. You can also get plastic battery boxes my tr3 has one,

If you are using a wax stat as opposed to the original bellows type you need a restrict or in the bypass hose. I use a Yorkshire type plumbing stop end drilled to suit the climate you are driving in, fits a treat and does not move,

Hi roger, You might remember my good friend Reg introducing me to you and your better half at the Welsh weekend. I felt like I should have bought a book from you called ' having fun with you TR4 restoration ' and yes the area was lovely. Sorry to hear about the rad, my water pump gave up the ghost on the way home but managed to get home with a few stops,

We have toured many thousands of mile on a bike and used autocom equipment, it is impossible to communicate otherwise. In the TR it is possible at lower speeds, you can also use the man filter to good effect when appropriate ????

Only had this once. Started car warmed it up. Jacked rear end up and started car this time in gear, depressed clutch and applied brake. A kinder way to free things off,
Dave

Yes that will allow you to get at the filter and magnets, no problem,

I have this on both my garage doors, perfect !

Thanks Ashley I think you are correct about drop box. By the way the picture was taken this year when loaded on the train bound for Livorno.

After three attempts with replacement Kenlowe electronic boxes I have also now been supplied with the original type. Why are they still selling these devices which are clearly not up to the job, definitely one for Rogers list,
