is it because you've got a "funny machine?"
You got it!
Do you remember the programme or did you google it?
The words to the Billy Bean song started:
"Billy Bean built a machine to see what it could do.
He made it out of sticks and stones, and nuts and bolts and glue.
The motor sang chuggle-a-rang, chuggle-a-ruggle-a-rator,
And all of a sudden a picture appeared on the funny old cartoonerator
Billy Bean built a machine to see what it would do,
It did the funniest things he'd seen,
So he called it his fun machine, machine,
Billy Bean and his fun machine.

BTW - Anybody here old enough to know why I using Billy Bean as a login?

Nice car, I assume the Badge is to add value since it doesnt relate to any of the car???
Not true, as the badge is genuine MG. !!

Thanks Dale & Alec for your input, mine is built on a custom RMB chassis with a Ford pinto engine and I was told it had TR4 front & back axles.
Having looked at a drawing of the spitfire front suspension setup it looks like the front is indeed spitfire & the rear TR4 with 2 rear springs and not the spits swing axles.
Looks like the TR4 & Spits front suspension were quite similar though?
Makes buying parts Interesting eh?
So will but a couple of Spitfire track rod ends now and see how they match up
Picture of car is attached if you are interested.
Thanks again for your help.

Don't know how you TR4 guys are going to take this, but here goes!
(Hopefully I wont get banned)
I have a Gentry supposedly based on a 63 TR4, and from what I can see the running gear is TR4.
But, I have just come to replace the track rod ends with TR4 ones and although everthing else is correct ie. they are the right length and screw on to the steering arms, the taper and thread on the old one is smaller.
The TR4 ones have a 7/16 thread with a taper from about .630 inch to .560 inch and the old ones a 3/8 thread with the taper from .5 inch to around .437 inch.
Were all TR4s the same on the steering components or what do you think I have?
PS. Have loved TR4s since the 60's and would love a proper one, but haven't the money.

Hit the vehicle enquiry button. Pressing the Home button on the expired page in the earler post will also take you there.

About 30 years ago I made a picture from a TR3 (WUO117) in Ross on wye.
This was the first time I saw a tr3. Now after all these years I do have my own TR3.
I,m wondering if the car is still running around?

Glad you liked it Ade, thought you TR blokes would have hated the idea.
I've been on the Club Triumph forum to ask the Spitfire types if the sizes match a Spit's track rod, and it seems they do.
So thanks for pointing me in the right direction one and all, just got to get on and do it now.
Thanks again, will keep on watching here though cos its a great site.
