  1. everything seems to match eng g/box diff with heritage cert nothing seems to have been moved bodywork wise all the eng is cr jtype o/d brake are correct for cr wiring loom has not been cut/chopped all the body is the corect colour even if Iscrape the underseal off from under the car.I`m the 4 owner the last 2 owners only had it for a short time the original was in scotland Edinburgh I think he had it for the first 25years as far as i can find out is there any number stamped on body or anyway to find out any more

  2. I have a 1973 tr6 mreg that should be a cr which all the chassis and engine gearbox are but it seems to have a cp body (floor dip switch no plate lights in r/bumper clearhooter washer wiper switches it`s in magenta which doesn't`t appear to have been resprayed or if it has it was a total shot blast and repaint i was just wondering would this be a rebuild by someone at some point was it a bitsa from the factory or has any one any other ideas

  3. just got car MOTed straight through, but here is my prob I had a job to start the car prior to test, then on the way to garage it stoped, turned the key 2-3 cranks and off she goes again,i thought just air lock somewhere but it stoped on the way home, just managed to get in the drive phew, after some pratting about sorry thorough investigation work the fuel pump is running as if there is no fuel in tank and I've got fluctuating pressure at the M/U 20-104psi also when i do manage to get the car started the pressure drops(80psi) while running then the car stops my first thought is s* in the tank has anyone got any suggestions

  6. going of on a tangent here I know my 6 has developed a vibration when slowing down(not under braking) it`s nice and smooth under acceleration and braking I`ve not investigated yet has anyone got any ideas before i go and strip half the car before realsing I didn`t need to do all that !!!

  7. look deeper than just paint lift some carpets check chassis mechs are fairly easy and cheeper to rectify make sure it is uk car if add says so, still on pi, all panels are steel, look for rust iner wings "B"posts boot panel that filler cap sits in cills are panel gaps good do the numbers match with age of car I`m sure that others can give you more pointers than me but it`s a start

  8. SNAP my thoughts exactly put a phoenix on mine sounded fantastic when first put on it still does on short local runs but on long runs after a faily short time of the drone it looses it`s appeal was looking at the orig back box trying to work out a quick way of putting it on ,can`t say that I`ve noticed it tarnishes the rear bumper

  9. a few of mine were slightly reccessed .i cleaned mine up with a oilstone.

i presume mine took many years to wear.

i check them every year.3 years use and they are still ok.

  12. hi everyone can anyone tell me if there are any differences between a mg (saloon i think)block and a cr (tr6) block I want to recon the engine in my tr and I have a mg block sitting here if they are the same I`d like to rebiuld the mg block that way i dont have the car off the road to long but if it differs it`s pointless it will be totally rebuilt so cam not an issue are the cranks the same ?

    Only my personal experience.

1973 125BHP CR as starting point

Kent TH5, clearances set to Kent Spec (ignore the doubters).

MU & Distributor recalibrated to suit by Malcolm Jones @ Prestige

Stage 2 head by TR Bitz.

Phoenix straight thru exhaust & manifold.

    Pertronix electronic ignition & coil

Plenum chamber opened to 4" with big cone K&N replacing the tin box by the radiator.

    Magnecor leads.

    Plugs at 30thou.

Set up on rolling road @ Napton near Daventry

Result = 137BHP at the wheels (165+? at the flywheel), very tractable and as much power as I needed to enjoy playing with the Merc's and Beemers on the unrestricted German Autobahns on the way home from Sweden last year.

    Regards

    Tim

thanks tim think it sounds like "TH5" is the one then where in napton thats not that far from me
