  1. Hello Dan,

I used a company local to you called BDS Engineering, they are based in Edenbridge.

They rebored the engine on my TR6 and balanced everything. I put the engine back together,

and have had no issues, it runs well. If you need them to rebuild it they can do that.

    I can highly recommend them.

Let me know if you need a contact number.

    regards

    Andy

    Hi Andy,

Thanks for the info on BDS eng. I know Edenbridge quite well, never knew they were there.

got hold of their phone number ok. Sounds like they could be just who I am looking for.

Before I ring them I wondered do they work by the hour or on a fixed price system for the work carried out.

TRGB quoted £45 per hour, not sure if that is a good price or not.

You say you put the engine back together, which is what I intend to do, did you buy the Gaskets ect. from them as well.

Did'nt want to walk in there whith an open cheque book so to speak.

    Thanks Dan

P.s. thanks to everyone else who sent a reply to my original question

  2. I have a 1972 2.5 c p short block that needs overhauling.

can anyone from their own experience recommend a good engine reconditioning firm.

Would it be worth sending it to someone like TRgb, or using someone local. I live in the Tonbridge area of Kent.

I have spoken to a Firm called LCP, who would do the work but they don't seem to know much about the engine.

Going round in circles at the moment, any suggestions would be welome.

    Dan

  3. Hello,

Has any one got any information or history on my tr6, HUE 748L (correct reg), other than one entry in the register in 1974.

Here's the side view. This is where the interesting detail is:

    Hi Stan

If I take the contact base plate off,the two sets of numbers can be seen under the cam weights, cast into the bottom, on the inside of the distributor body.

I have included a picture, which shows the distibutor.

    thanks Dan.

  5. Thanks for the replies.

The only numbers on the Distributor are, 22d6 and 54411560 which are inside. Also a small 'A' stamped on the side ,were you would expect the ID numbers to be.

There does not appear to have been a Vacuum unit fitted.

It does however appear to have been made the opposite way round to the distributors in various pictures. eg advance/retard nurled knob on the left with scaled end on the right. Does this effect how the insides are put together.

    Thanks Dan.

  6. Can anyone help me identify the distributor on my 1972 cp tr6.

It looks different to all the pictures in the manuals.

It has no Vacuum diaphram unit and the Vernia adjustment is on the left side, looking down on the top.

However, inside, its got 22D6 stamped on the bottom and it appears to have 7 degrees on marked on the advance unit inside.

May be its the correct original and i am worrying for no reason.

p.s. this is my first question on the forum,so treat me gently.
