I will see the tank in the flesh tomorrow so find out if there is any corrosion. Just thought I would slosh it as a precaution and similarly get the prv checked out by Malcolm

Peter
Tried you links but seems to be a problem?
Stuart
Thanks for the Moss suggestion

Re the stainless steel bumpers - (if it is relevant) does anyone know how they compare strength wise in a front or rear end collision compared to the original or repro ones. OK the bumper is sacrificial in any case but if the stainles steel ones are stronger does that mean more kinetic energy is transferred to the body/chassis ie greater damage and repair cost and possibly leading to the insurance company start playing with the you didn't tell us bit? The German MOT boys vould also have a field day?
Bit convoluted - sorry!
-
I have a pair of the enlarged lock stop fittings bought from revington which I did not need. Available for cost if you are interested.
-
Tank is out so may as well see about sloshing it. Bearing in mind ethanol isssues etc does any one have recommendation as to which to use?
I think I will get the prv over to Malcolm at Prestige to service it and replace washers etc.

According to a website I found there is no duty as it is under £135, but VAT of about £15. This would mean 25 would cost about £90 total ie less than £4 each
-
I may try HMRC website. The total is £74.69 including postage. I had a Casio watch sent from the States costing about £50 and it was not charged

Hi Simon
OK not a problem
Reply received this afternoon:
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I don't normally keep that
many in stock and was waiting to see when I could get the plugs. I can
have them here ready to ship in about a week. Total with shipping would
be $118.25
That works out to $4.73 each pair. I assume we won't get any uk customs duty charged and there will be local UK postage to add on
-
Sorry for the delay guys, I emailed them on Monday afternoon and they haven't got back to me. I will chase them up today.
-
OK added to original 12
Nick 3
Pinky 1
Cord 2
Paul Anderson 1
now up to 19 sets. Looks like I will order 24 to give a few over
-
Nick
I've had a couple of other PM's as well so I can add them all in no problem

Just looking at your photo again is that a mod to drain the gutter?
Here is my car - it may be a bit fuzzy (and it is the first time I have tried to add in a photo!)
-
OK just checking the maths
jemgee 1 pair
neil f p 1
guy 3
clarkey 1
mike3739 2
ragtag 1
ivor 88V8 2
paul 83 1
That makes 12 pairs assuming my understanding (+maths) is correct.
If not let me know. Any one else before I order tomorrow (about lunchtime as USA is 5 or 6 hours behind us)?
-
OK that's 6 taken so far out of the 12 I will order on Monday
-
Thanks Guy
I will leave it over the weekend and unless there is a lot more interest I will order on Monday. I have checked a few other US websites and they are all around the $4 mark

Paul Rego came up with a very neat solution to terminating the plenum drain hoses as they exit the baffle.
The image below is from Paul's excellent web site http://www.74tr6.com and shows a mid 60's Mustang rear quarter drain fitting.
There is a more complete description in his Painting section, just scroll down. http://www.74tr6.com/repainting.htm

I have now got a reply from Metro Parts :
I could probably send 40 to 60 sets in a small 1st class box. They are
small and don't weigh much.
Neil and I are interested so at the moment it would be worth ordering say 12 and the shipping cost is then only a $ each so does anyone else
want them?
-
Quite fancy the idea of mine and only 1 other 6 having these.
Looks like I will need to source a metal basher. I take it from Ivor's comments you do not know who did them for the PO?
-
Has anyone made or fitted a stainless steel cover to the cills ie a la the Stag?
-
Obviously been there and got the T shirt!
Thanks Stuart - I had a feeling that there could be something like that!
-
I tried UK Mustang sites without sucess so I bounced an email to Metroparts market. Less than 5 mins later the answer is they will ship 1st class USPS for $12 so total is $16.95.
Anyone interested in a bulk order?

Gasket and rest of base is fine so I will try drilling out. I am already taking the rear bumper and petrol to get rechromed so hopefully will only be £20 extra or so. Any more and I will be on the hunt for one!
Just realised I am going to have to strip the petrol cap down - hopefully this doesn't have any hidden dangers!
-
Stripping the bumper down for rechrome.
The 2 small nuts on the mazak (?) base casting sheared off the steel studs.
I guess this is a common problem - except that it does not seem to be listed as a separate part. I assume that it is OK to carefully drill out the studs which seem to be pressed or rusted into the base and use a small nut and bolt instead?
Also the chrome cover needs re chroming - I assume its not mazak like the rear light trims?
-
Great info guys - thanks
I was wondering about a longer hose to exit somewhere under the car and facing backwards ie a bit of suction from air passing under the car would give positive extraction and keep it away from the wing cill junction!
-
OK Resto underway.
Ordered the extended drain tubes from Moss and they are the correct number but are black ribbed straight hose labelled as TR3 heater hose. They do not have the bent end shown on the illustration. Rang Moss and they confirmed these are the kit they supply with clips and gromits.
Next ordered the stainless steel baffles from Manners advertised on back of TRAction complete with seals and clips.
I am not impressed with the Moss drain tubes and how do you drill the stainless steel baffles for the large gromit?
Is there any alternative for the outlet position to avoid going through the baffle plates?
