[Sooty plugs and running on]

Having a slight problem with the running of the engine.

After a reasonably long run the engine runs on after turning off the ignition and coughs a bit out of the recyling valve on top of the rocker cover.

Also the inner two plugs seem to soot up whereas the outer two are light brown as they should be.

I have checked the mixture and timing but they seem OK.

Any ideas?

Also has anyone fitted a catch tank?

I have a rather noisy vibration in the car at about 70 mph which is around 3000 rpm with the o/d engaged.

On looking underneath the car I noticed that the exhaust is rigidly fastened to the various hanging points.

Shouldn't there be some sort of rubber or flexible mounting arrangement to allow a certain amout of flex and also prevent vibration through the car?

If so can you provide some details such as type and possible supplier.
