  2. Welcome Kev

I have been using chrome wires for 6 years initially on my 4 and for the past two years on my 5. The cleaning is a bit of a myth. I use auto glym clean wheels, which you spray on and jet wash off and they look great, with no grief.

If you get them balanced by someone who knows what they are doing, the driving experience can be faultless.

As always each to their own

    Cheers Carl

  3. Hi

Why didnt the 5 have a glovebox pull? its a pain on mine to have to have the key in to open, is it possible to fit a pull? I have heard the 4 ones dont fit, anybody overcome this?

I dont have the swith or light fitted on mine, does anyone have these to sell or know where I can get them from.

    Cheers Carl

  4. Just got the 5 back from her engine rebuild and straight to her MOT. I got an advisory that the rear nearside wheel had too much play, but could be taken up by adjustment.

How do you adjust the bearing on the rear, the front is easy but cant find in any of my books how to do it on the rear.

  5. Hi

I have aquired a pair of period Lucas spotlights. I use to have spotlights on my 4, which were rear mounted and attached to the grille.

I dont want to mount these through the grille on my 5 unless I have to, I want to keep my front bumper and therefore wandered if any of you guys can help on alternative ways of mounting/fitting the spotlights.

Photos would be great showing any brackets you have made/purchased.

    Cheers Carl

  7. I owned UYF 723F for some time. If you would like to contact me on chrisljwrexham@hotmail.com I may be able to fill you in on some of it's history. Also it would be good to see some photos if you have any.

    Email sent Chris

  8. Thats right Kiwi, I had the same problem always catching my rear boxes, so you can put thicker spacers when laden and smaller ones when not, but preventing you grounding your back boxes.

  9. Kiwi

Which ever way you go, you can purchase spacers of varying depths to set the rear ride height. Therefore if you are away for the weekend etc and are carrying weight you can add spacers and remove when not. Its a very quick job to add and remove these spacers to suit youre outing.

    Cheers Carl

  10. Hi

The sun was out today, so gave the 5 a spin and noticed my tyres are getting close to needing to be changed.

Any reccomendations? I am on chrome wires and so they need to be tubed, 195/65 15

    Cheers Carl

  11. Really sorry to hear that Jeff, I hope the To--er is feeling really bad if he is in deed a forum member reading this.

Whilst travelling back from Malvern yet another peice of cream enamel flew over my windscreen, you guessed it, from those **** after market bonnet badges. I have sourced some Humbrol cream enamel paint and I am having a go myself.

    Cheers Carl
