There are also images from photographs and brochures available on many British cars (choose the decade from 1890 so should cover all Triumphs!) at

  3. The fuel pump is in the tank in the carb TR8 so this is not likely to be an issue - unlike the TR5 and TR6.  It can happen with the fuel injected TR8s when stopping for a short while, but is not likely to be the cause of this type if issue when running continually.

I think about 11 cars out of 74 ACN had the sunroof....or moonroof as known in the USA.

  4. Following discussion with another TR8 owner, likely to be the module in the distributor. Does the engine cut out immediately and the rev counter drop to zero, rather than the engine coughing and spluttering and finally stopping?

Try changing the coil as others have suggested.

  5. There were 3 TR7 stalks used, two had little ears (early cars had the stalk fitted with the wash wipe on the left then they swapped over)  and the last used ones were plain.  Lucas built them all and they are not dissimilar to those used on the Mini and other contemporary cars.  With the indicator on the right that is the earlier fitting (I think) so you want the little ears but I can see no reason why you cannot adapt one  - it is generally the loom connections that differ.

  6. The early Speke built cars had stain black rear panels (the part to which the rear lights are fixed) but that was changed to match body colour around 1977.  All cars came from the 3 factories with satin black sills (the word seals seems to have crept into some replies).  This was separated from the body colour (and the doors) by a pair of part YKC174  with a pair of end caps ZKC773.  If those parts have been mislaid, then the sills are often sprayed in body colour and left.
