  1. My 1970 TR6 using triple webbers tends to run on when hot. Is this a timing issue, incorrect idle mixture or fuel continuing to run into carbs?

Questions: what is the best total timing to set car at (how do you work it out)?

Would an in line fuel shut off valve help?

    Thanks in advance!

  2. My 1970 TR6 has a J type overdrive which only leaks after a drive, obviously when the oil is thin and hot. I have changed the gasket on the sump and tightened the bolts and read somewhere (but can't find the comment) that it may be due to pressure build up. Is this likely and if so, something I can tackle?

    Advice please!

  3. Thanks for that guys. Felt is in place. It does seem to be from the base of the tube where it joins the block. I am finally getting the drips under control. The biggest difference came after fitting a breather to the top of the gearbox cover and replacing the washers on the overdrive sump with dowty seals!

  4. My 1970 TR6 seems to be seeping oil from the base of the dipstick guide tube. Does this screw in and therefore can be tightened or is it pressed in. Can I remove and repair or will I just have to seal it and if so what with?

    Thanks

  5. I have recently aquired a restored 1970 TR6 with a J type overdrive which is happily dropping gearbox oil on to my floor. I don't know how much is thought to be excessive and would firstly appreciate opinions. I have not had to top it up in a couple of months but don't like leaving it on friends' drives without a bit of carpet otherwise they don't invite me back! It is obviously worse when things are hot.

There are lots of moist areas under the car so my next job will be to take the tunnel cover out and look from on top. I understand that the common lack of a breather hole can contribute to this. My second question is - can anyone show me a picture of where to look for this breather hole?
