Shropshire Group's Drive It Day Run to Powis Castle
Powis Castle was built in the 13th Century as a medieval fortress. The Herbert family occupied the castle from 1570 and gradually remodelled the castle into a Baroque palace. The 17th Century Italianate terraces are lined with herbaceous borders and the famous cloud-like yew trees. The terraces will be a riot of spring colours.
Lunch has been arranged at The Horseshoes in Berriew (on the A483) – famous for its “Swan in the Electricity Wires” incident!
