Red Rose Group - Autumn Leaves Run 2018
TR Register members are invited to join Red Rose Group on this year's Autumn Leaves Run to RAF Museum Cosford on Sunday 7th October 2018.
The award winning museum houses one of the largest aviation collections in the United Kingdom. 70 historic aircraft are displayed in three wartime hangars and within the National Cold War Exhibition.
The Cold War Exhibition contains 18 aircraft, military transport, missiles, memorabilia, interactive kiosks and hotspots of information.
The exhibition reflects the social, cultural and political history of the Cold War era circa 1947 – 1989, in an innovative way. Highlights include the only place in the UK where you can see Britain's V Bombers: the Vulcan, Victor and Valiant. A Number of aircraft are suspended in flying attitudes including a Dakota, Canberra, Meteor, Lightning and Javelin.
Hot and cold meals and snacks are available at The Refuel Restaurant and there is also a Museum Shop.
You will be able to explore the fascinating story of the RAF and of the thousands of ordinary servicemen and women who have served in it and whose invaluable contribution has shaped the world that we live in today. Entry is free with a £4.00 charge for car parking.
The RAF is celebrating 100 years since their formation on 1st April 1918 so why not join us for a day that everyone will enjoy whatever the weather.
We will be meeting at Blakemore Village Craft Centre, Sandiway, Cheshire CW8 2EP at 10am and departing around 10:30am for a run through the Cheshire and Shropshire Countryside. For those who want to make an early start an all you can eat breakfast is available at the Blakemere Village restaurant from 9am.
We will be departing 10:30 am prompt and route books / directions will be available on the day together with 2018 Red Rose Rally plaques for anyone who hasn't already got one.
We will be returning back to Cheshire and there is the option of joining us for an early evening meal at 5pm at the Alvanley Arms Tarpoley (CW6 9DS). Menu details are available at www.alvanleyarms.co.uk.
Pre booking for the run is not essential although places for the meal need to be confirmed in advance. So we have an idea of potential numbers it would be appreciated if you could email Jonathan or Caroline at trredrose@hotmail.com to confirm if you are considering attending and if you would like a place reserving for the meal on the return run.
