This vehicle is an early example of its type built for the “home” market & is a relatively rare survivor of the early model. The accompanying British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate states that this particular example – chassis CP/25209-O was built 26 January 1969 complete with overdrive, heater & injected 150bph engine. According to the TR Register this car was the 64th CP TR6 off the production line. As of 2015 there were only 5 older CP cars in existence in the UK but it is not known how many are still running.
The TR6 runs & drives superbly as you would expect. The car is kept garaged on a trickle charger when not in use. The car is slightly lowered & has telescopic shock absorbers at the rear. It has an excellent hood & half tonneau. According to the previous owner a total of 3500 miles were driven from 2006 until March 2015. Since then only a total of 1507 miles have been accumulated.
According to the previous owner & receipts, the car was rebuilt in 2003. In 2014 the car received a rebuilt gearbox, reconditioned dashboard, re cored radiator, kenlowe fan, new carpet set & is now fitted with minilite wheels. In 2015 the fuel injection system was completely refurbished at a cost of approx. £2000 by the previous owner.
In 2015 the present owner had the car under body wax oiled, front & rear valances re-sprayed & both sills re-sprayed with an anti chip finish at Autofix 2000. In 2016 Hollis & Brown carried out a complete electrics overhaul including the installation of a radio system & new fuse relay for the Bosch fuel pump. Original seats were obtained, reupholstered & installed in 2017 along with custom made matching sun visors.
Autofix 2000 carried out a hood realignment in 2017 & re-sprayed several sections of the engine bay. The rear bumper was re-chromed in 2020 by Brighthouse Metal Finishers.
The car was Mot tested (although exempt) 17 March 2021. The car comes with a file of service & restoration invoices including MOT certificates from 2005. The asking price is based on a commissioned report from Classic Assessments who have undertaken the assessment & valuation on over 750 Triumph TRs of which 285 have been TR6 models.
