Wye Dean group will kick start the year with a visit to the Roman Baths and Amphitheatre in Caerleon, known as Isca in the 2nd century. The 2nd Augustan Legion were based here - the impressive baths they created offer a glimpse of life for the wealthy, whilst at the well preserved amphitheatre nearby it's possible to imagine the noise and excitement (and gore) of the gladiatorial contests.
From here, we'll drive to the Foxhunter Inn at Nantyderry for a late lunch.
We'll meet in Monmouth for the drive to Caerleon at around 10am - please let Jeff know if you'll be joining us. Route details will be circulated shortly before the day.
