The Halloween Run 2015
The
Halloween Run of 2015 proved to be a complete day of ups and downs.
DOWN
The morning
started with thick fog for the run to the meet up point.
UP
On arrival
the sun came out and we were able to greet a total of sixteen cars and crews
suitably dressed in all sorts of outlandish dress. Ghouls, witches, skeletons
and even a Tigger, what else.
A great attendance for this time of year.
UP 2
We were able to welcome a group of the local
Stag Owners Club who had been invited to come and join us.
DOWN
On the first
part of the route my son’s car broke down and I had to backtrack to find him
with a group of other members.
DOWN 2
I managed to
roll into the back of Mark’s car in my haste to see what the problem was ,
fortunately the large pumpkin on the front of my car saved any damage.
UP
Mark Winter
and Gerry Foullger thought they had found the problem and we were able to get
on our way.
DOWN
It stopped
again!!
UP
Just as I
was phoning for a recovery truck, good old Mark finally found the problem, and
off we went again, taking a short cut in an endeavour to catch up with the rest
of the group.
DOWN
The fog
returned worse than before and the temperature dropped several degrees. Also on
arrival at the coffee stop we were told that no booking had been received so a
fairly chaotic session developed as the barman tried to retrieve the situation.
In my defence I must add that the reception did admit to missing the booking.
UP
We managed
to catch up just in time to grab a very quick coffee with the rest of the guys.
DOWN
With the fog
becoming even thicker I decided to cut the run short and head for the lunch
stop. As we progressed this proved for once today to be the correct decision as
the weather worsened.
UP
We all
managed to arrive at The Huntsman safe and sound and back on time for an
excellent lunch
Even with
all the problems everybody said, (to my face at least) they had had a good day
out. Many thanks to all the drivers and crews for putting up with what could
have been a better day, but we made it.
