Germany

Mervyn and Carla Rogers and Dick and Sylvia Hunt attended this year’s TR Register European Meeting in early September.Mervyn writes: The meeting was hosted by the ‘TR Interessengemeischaft Sudwest’ and was held at the Hessen Hotelpark, Hohenroda, situated in the centre of Germany.
It is a truly beautiful area, perfect for TR touring on near perfect surface roads. We also joined the tour consisting of 2 days in Wurzburg and 2 days in the amazing Sinsheim Technick Museum in the South.
This is the sixth Euromeet and tour that Carla and I have attended and we find that it is always a joy meeting many TR members from all over of the UK and Europe. If you have never done one, I would consider it.
For Dick and Sylvia this was their first and they couldn’t wait to take their TR4A on this 1600 mile adventure following many years of restoration. The trip took us through France and Belgium, stopping at Lille and Stolberg on the way. Half way from Stolberg we stopped at the ‘National Auto Museum, The Loh Collection’ for lunch. A little off the beaten track, this was a very special collection to see.
The meeting was spread over 4 days with numerous local routes suggested to take as you wished. The 4 star Hotel was great, set in a beautiful park setting. I believe 120 TRs from 11 countries attended the meeting and 51TRs from 7 countries joined the tour.
The tour took us to Wurzburg, with a snack on the way at Maria Bildhausen Monastry, who looks after people with various disabilities, they took a lot of interest in our TRs and waved us all off on departure. The Wurzburg visit involved a boat trip to a Rocoko garden, we also visited ’The Residence’ a spectacular palace for the Prince Bishop followed by a wine tasting in the cellar. After Wurzburg we continued to Gotzenburg Castle for lunch.
We continued on to Sinsheim where we parked all around the central plaza of the museum. Our dinners were made special as they were held within the Museum.
On our return journey through France, Dick picked up a misfire, I lent him my spare coil and that solved the problem. Other than that, both TRs were faultless as we hoped they would be. It was a truly great trip.
Next year it will be hosted by the Belgian TR Register. We are still thinking about joining.

Our regular meetings are at the Stepping Stones pub in Westhumble, Dorking (RH5 6BS) on the third Wednesday of each month from 20:00 and our Sunday lunchtime meetings on the last Sunday of the month at the Surrey Oaks (RH5 5DZ), starting at 12:00.
