TRAction 295 Report

TRAction 295 Report

Sunday 2nd October saw a group of us attending the annual North Wales Walled Towns run hosted by Denbigh, Conwy, Beaumaris and Caernarfon town councils. An early start for most as we had to be in Denbigh by 9.00, a cold and very misty morning but by 9.30 the sun was out and a glorious October day lay ahead of us. Setting off from Denbigh we drove over Bylchau and Denbigh moors, spectacular views on such a lovely day, to our first stop in Bodlondeb, Conwy where refreshments were available. We left Conwy passing through Betws y Coed, stopping in Beaumaris for lunch where the fantastic views and scenery were admired. Leaving a very tropical Beaumaris behind we headed for our final destination Caernarfon Slate Quay where more than 130 cars gathered, split into categories of vintage, veteran and classics. Prizes were awarded but sadly this year no one in our group was a winner, better luck next year! Our day ended with a group of us having a meal in The Mulberry, Conwy before heading for home. Brilliant day, good company and enjoyed by all.

Our November meeting at The Griffin saw quite a good turnout, the Rally of the Tests passing the pub caused a lot of interest. Sadly, the new landlord at The Griffin feels that our meetings are affecting his Sunday lunch trade as we are filling his car park so we are now looking for a new venue if anyone has any ideas. Our annual Christmas meal is to be held at Plas Hafod again on the 27th January and please let Patrick have your payment by January 8th for all those who are going. Our AGM will be held on the 5th February and hopefully by that time we will have sorted a new venue but Geoff will keep us all informed on this front.

The hotel for next year's weekend away to Yorkshire is now full but Malcolm and Anne have B & B options close by for all those interested.

This is my last report for 2016 and I can't believe how quickly the year has gone. Plenty of TR activities to look forward to in 2017.

By the time you read this, the Christmas Festivities will all be over and a New Year will have begun. Wishing all TR enthusiasts and North Wales members a very Happy New Year.

Happy motoring !
