TR Action 300
Well, a bumper issue of TR Action deserves a bumper report and here, from the Devon Group, that's not a problem after a really bumper summer months of events! Just after submitting the previous report, we had our gathering at the South Devon Railway at Buckfastleigh where we parked our cars along with the local TSSC Group for a lovely, relaxing sunny day, with a good variety of vehicles on show as the attached photo shows. An Engineman's Breakfast then later, snacks and picnics with strawberries and cream all added to the enjoyment.
This was quickly followed by the Bicester Flywheel event, that a few of us were able to attend along with a number of other TR Groups, and a few days later, it was the turn of the more adventurous amongst us to take their cars around the track at Castle Coombe, where the damp weather made it even more exciting.
Then, as we moved into July it was time for the IWE but this unfortunately clashed with the local Powderham show which is a firm favourite in our calendar, so a tough choice was necessary. As you will have seen and heard elsewhere, the TR Register was invited to provide a selection of cars for the driver's parade prior to the British Grand Prix at Silverstone and a few very lucky Devon Group members were amongst the chosen ones. Silverstone Classic followed later in the month and a number of us from Devon attended this, especially with the chance to take our cars around the track to celebrate the anniversaries for the TR3A and the TR5. Then, back to more local events, we had a great day out starting with a heart y breakfast and then on to Dartmoor for a bracing drive to one of the reservoirs on the moor and a time to relax before heading back to civilisation for a cream tea, all kindly arranged by Jane and Anna.
By the time you're reading this, our next planned trip out in September, will have included a visit to the local Tavy Ales micro brewery, managed by our own members Brian and Yolanda and their family, where we will have tried a few of their locally produced beers but more next time – hic!
Upcoming Events:
If you're not getting emails from myself or from the TR Office, then you really should let us have your email address so that we can keep you updated with events.
In Devon, on 24 September, we will be joining a number of other local groups for the Peter Christie Memorial Day. It's hard to believe that it's already a year since we lost Peter but his wife Jane and daughter Anna, have arranged this event in his memory, and to raise some funds for the Rowcroft Hospice, with an inter-group skittle match and lunchtime meal. For more details please see our programme of the TR Register – Devon website, or please contact me.
We also have Sunday lunches arranged (thanks guys) for October (John & Kay) and November (John & Dominique) prior to our Christmas special (Derek & Janet) - so watch out for details.
