Glavon Group Visit to Shepton Mallet Prison

Join us for a self-guided tour (approx 2 hours and £10pp) of this historic prison which opened in 1625 and only closed in 2013. Its history includes an interesting period during WW2 when it became a British, then American Military Prison and also provided safe storage for 33 tons of priceless documents from the London Public Records Office (which was destroyed in the blitz) including The Domessdat Book and Magna Carta!!

After being released for good behaviour we will head for The Woolpack Inn at Beckington near Frome for lunch.
