Social Scene Report 317
Hi Fellow followers. On 7th August, 15 of us, including 4 from our neighbouring Wensum group enjoyed an evening at Gordon Eastons (a local farmers) museum and collection of Vehicles,farm equipment and antiquities.
We were well represented at the Interclub Triumph Weekend at Stamford in August. Again it was a great event.
On 6th September 13 cars set off on our WOTY (weekend of the year) kindly and professionally arranged by Tracy and Phil Core. We journeyed via a suggested route to the picturesque village of Boughton on the Water in the Cotswolds where we visited the Model Village and spent some time enjoying a lunch and a wander. We then journeyed on to The Royal George Hotel at Birdlip where we all sat down together for a dinner followed by several quizzes and brainteasers.
Saturday was a busy day when we had a guided tour around Gloucester Cathedral followed by a visit to Gloucester Docks and a Boat trip.
We then journeyed to The Crown of Crucis near Cirencester where we enjoyed a drink and a chat with the Glavon TR group and Windsor Forest Groups for a couple of hours making a grand total of 32 cars, see attached photo. Returning to Birdlip we again enjoyed a meal and more brainteasers.
The sun shone on Sunday morning for us to join the GWR Classic Vehicle Event at Toddington Station which really was well supported. At lunchtime we boarded a steam train for a trip to Gloucester before returning to the car show. Back at the hotel in the evening we filled our tummies and sharpened our brains again.
Monday morning and time to leave, we travelled through heavy rain and on the journey home included a guided tour around Blenheim Palace (we had to give the gardens a miss) and NO we did not steal the one Million Pound Gold Loo.(couldn’t get it in a TR boot). I believe that was stolen the following day.
So thank you again Tracy and Phil for a super trip.
