Social Scene Report 301
Hi Fellow followers. We are still getting very good support at our Pub meets and on 21st August we welcomed four visitors from Lea Valley to The Three Horseshoes. However, unfortunately, the Three Horse Shoes is closing at the end of September. We thanked Gerry and Julia for their hospitality over the last ten years. Starting on the 16th October we are moving to the nearby White Hart at Warboys (see details below or on line) for our Monday meets. Please come along and join us, you will be most welcome.
On 17th August 15 of us journeyed to Kings Lynn for a different sort of event. We met at The Marriots Warehouse, an old corn warehouse which has been converted to a very nice restaurant, where over coffee our guide Linda Drury gave us an introduction to the historic Port of Kings Lynn. She then lead us on a very interesting walk and commentary around the old part of the town where we learnt much about its history We ended the visit with lunch back at The Marriots Warehouse.
On 7th August Peter Parkinson organised a run to visit The Lincs Aviation Heritage centre at the old Bomber Command Airfield at East Kirkby to look around the museum and see the four merlin engines run up on their Lancaster, "Just Jane". They then had lunch at "The Inn" at Woodhall Spa which was, of course the pub frequented by the crews of the famous 617 squadron. We were pleased to welcome 4 cars from the Lea Valley group.
Finally, we had 8 cars from the group come along to the Whittlesey Festival and Car show on 10th September,(see Photo), where the town centre was closed for the day to exhibit some 130 cars, 112 stalls selling their various wares and an assortment of rides and entertainment for the children.
