TRs Draw the Crowds at Chilly but Cheerful Wallingford Parade
Duncan Bradley reports: Whilst a smaller KVG contingent headed for Basingstoke, the main Kennet Valley Group turnout enjoyed another successful visit to the ever-popular Wallingford Parade, with ten members cars, nine being TRs gathering in Wallingford from 8.30am ready to join the parade line-up for the 10am start.
Despite cold and overcast conditions, the atmosphere was lively from the outset, with the start field packed full of an impressive variety of classic and interesting vehicles. As the parade began, the TRs made a wonderful sight touring through the streets of Wallingford, where large crowds had gathered to enjoy the spectacle despite the chilly weather.
Following the town tour, the cars moved to the display area at the Kinecroft, allowing the public a closer look at the impressive line-up of Triumph sports cars. Having so many TRs together always attracts plenty of attention, and throughout the afternoon there was a constant stream of visitors stopping to admire the cars, ask questions, and share their own Triumph memories and stories.
A particular highlight for the Group came when Robert White and Michael Field were invited into the parade ring to talk about their cars, giving spectators an insight into the enthusiasm and dedication behind keeping these classics on the road.
The remainder of the afternoon was spent enjoying the relaxed atmosphere, exploring the many other vehicles on display, and catching up with fellow club members and members of the public alike. Once again, Wallingford proved to be a thoroughly enjoyable event and an excellent showcase for the Triumph marque and the Kennet Valley Group.
