The Pangbourne Classic Car Show, held in the beautiful grounds of Pangbourne College, once again proved to be a highlight of the local motoring calendar. Blessed with glorious sunshine throughout the day, the event attracted large crowds of enthusiasts and families alike, with ice cream vendors doing a roaring trade as visitors enjoyed the warm weather and relaxed atmosphere.
The Kennet Valley Group was well represented, with an impressive display of Triumph TRs drawing plenty of attention from showgoers. Our stand showcased a fine selection of cars, demonstrating the enduring appeal and variety of the TR marque. It was encouraging to see so much interest from the public, many of whom stopped to chat with members and admire the cars on display. As the organisers place cars in date order, we were placed together along with some other Triumphs and TRs not known to us, which of course we approached.
A particular pleasure was meeting newer (August 2025) Kennet Valley Group member Peter Hawker at the show. Peter arrived in a very familiar TR6 in Damson Red to many KVG members, the car was previously owned by the late Eddie Mace, a much-respected member and Assistant Leader of the group. It was wonderful to see the car continuing to be enjoyed and appreciated, providing a fitting reminder of Eddie's contribution to the club and the friendships formed through our shared enthusiasm for Triumphs.
The show itself has an admirable background. First held in June 2016, it was the brainchild of Pangbourne College Assistant Head (Boarding), Tom Cheney. The event was created to engage and inspire pupils, particularly those involved in the College's Car Restoration Club. The students are currently working on two fascinating projects: a 1970 Bond Equipe GT4 and a Rickman Ranger kit car. The show provides a valuable opportunity for pupils to experience the breadth and diversity of the classic vehicle movement and gain an appreciation of the skills and craftsmanship involved in preserving automotive heritage.
Beyond showcasing an amazing variety of vintage and classic vehicles, the event also serves an important charitable purpose, raising funds for worthy causes while bringing together enthusiasts from across the region. Sporting Bears we offering rides in Dream Cars for charity too.
Visitors were treated to a wonderful plethora of vehicles spanning many decades of motoring history. Alongside the impressive display of classic cars were a number of modern supercars from marques such as McLaren, Aston Martin, Mercedes and Ferrari, adding an extra dimension to the show and proving particularly popular with younger visitors. From sporting roadsters and elegant saloons to exotic performance machinery, there was something to capture the imagination of every attendee.
Combined with the excellent weather, friendly atmosphere and strong turnout of exhibitors, the event was another great success. The sunshine brought out the crowds in force, creating a real buzz around the showground throughout the day.
The Kennet Valley Group would like to thank the organisers, volunteers and Pangbourne College for hosting such an enjoyable event. We look forward to returning next year and supporting this excellent show once again.
