Eastern Region Event - Magnificent

The second “All Triumph Day @ Shuttleworth” incorporated a TRR Eastern Region meeting and was a wonderful success.

With some late entrants, we do not know exact numbers, but believe around 140 TR’s and 160 other Triumph marques took part.  TR’s came from far and wide, with quite a few making it a bit of a holiday, spending time around the venue. The ticket price gave Shuttleworth re entry for 30 days after 7th September and with many attendees finding they took longer around the cars, this facility is sure to be used by many.

In the run up to the event, the weather forecast went from brilliant sunshine to a totally wet day, but thankfully that changed back and the Sunday was completely dry with warm temperatures, albeit with rather strong winds. What else should we expect on an active Aerodrome?

The traditional arrival photo was this year taken next to a Bofors gun, which is an exhibit based at Shuttleworth. These pictures have all been emailed to the attendees and from the feedback received, this was much appreciated. New this year was a Vintage Bus ride on another of Shuttleworth’s many vehicles and a Jazz band playing some well known numbers across the field.

Although the event is organised by a small team from LVG, the support of a few other Eastern Region Groups was much appreciated. A big thank you to Peter Leslie GL of East Saxons, Tracy Core GL of Camb Followers and Bob Grou of North London, all of whom promoted the event among their members, with Peter erecting lots of TRR banners making the rally field look a most professional event.

With a big Battle of Britain airshow taking place at nearby Duxford, the airfield was remarkably quiet for a weekend, but there were 6 large hangers full of historic aircraft and vintage vehicles to view, not to mention the Swiss Garden. All this was on top of the great display of so many Triumphs.

All in all, a most successful Eastern Region Event
