We set off with roof down on a lovely crisp morning, the weather had a hint of what was to come, clear blue sky and lots of sunshine.

Arriving at West Green House, we drove past the regular car park and were efficiently shown to what would be a line of Triumphs. Nick had already arrived in his TR6 , followed by our TR3A and then Mike and Linda’s TR5. Unfortunately for whatever reason these were the only KVG members, but not to worry we were quickly joined by several other TR6’s and Stags and finally another TR5.

We noted as we entered a stage on our left and several hospitality facilities, we quickly availed ourselves of the coffee and bacon rolls and then before the public arrived did a tour around the house and gardens.

For those that have not been to West Green, the house is still privately owned and not accessible to the public but the West Green Gardens are not administered by the National Trust, but you can gain entry with a National Trust membership and I quote “due to the generosity of West Green House Management". There are several lakes and various fountains all with a slightly Japanese theme. Unfortunately, as you would imagine this summer has taken a toll on them and water levels were low…in the extreme !

We then stopped and had a cup of tea in the quaint team room…served rather quaintly  in beautiful  China teapots and cups.

We moved back to the event field which had now filled with an eclectic mix of cars….ranging from Mustangs, through Morgans Jaguars Minis, sports cars, commercial vehicles, pick ups, buses …you name it, it was there.

At 12.30 the main event started…on the stage were the” West End- Jersey Boys”  dressed in red velvet jackets they gave us a medley of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons numbers. From Rag Doll to Big Girls Don’t Cry including Sherry and Bye Bye Baby. As well as numbers from Grease and Neil Diamond’s Sweet Caroline.

We all sat on straw bales, passengers drinking rose wine  and we all joined in and it is no exaggeration it was one of the best events this year.

The organisation was exemplary, the weather fantastic and the setting and entertainment was second to none, we now have a couple of Jersey Boy groupies !

Would I go again….If I can only go to one event next year this would be my choice…in a word fantastic !
