If ever there was a day that reminded us why we own Triumph TRs, this was it.

Twelve cars made up of TRs, accompanied by an eclectic supporting cast consisting of an MG TF LE500, TVR, Austin-Healey, Porsche and two Mazda MX-5s, 4 cars gathered at the Esso garage in Kingsclere, ready for another Kennet Valley Group Day out. After the usual morning greetings, tyre-kicking and a healthy dose of good-natured banter, the convoy set off on what proved to be a superbly planned route.

Heading south through Overton, we enjoyed mile after mile of glorious driving roads before arriving at the Auto Barn near Winchester where we met up with the other 8 cars and fellow Wessex members. As always, it proved a popular stop, giving everyone the chance to admire the impressive selection of classic and specialist vehicles, browse the memorabilia and enjoy a well-earned coffee.

From there, KVG member Robert White took over as route master, guiding us along some of Hampshire's finest country roads. Rolling hills, quiet villages, a ford, sweeping bends and stunning scenery made for exactly the sort of driving our TRs were built for, with the soundtrack of straight-sixes and four-cylinder engines echoing through the countryside.

Our destination was the delightful Tichborne Arms at Tichborne, where an excellent lunch awaited. Good food, great company and plenty of conversation made for a thoroughly enjoyable break, with stories becoming ever more entertaining as the meal progressed!

The return journey was every bit as enjoyable, meandering back towards Berkshire along more picturesque lanes before making a stop to admire the spectacular views across the iconic Watership Down. Bathed in summer sunshine, it gave us a chance to appreciate just how fortunate we are to have such wonderful roads and scenery on our doorstep.

The planning behind these drives is often unseen but very much appreciated, and this was another first-class example of a Kennet Valley Group run at its very best.

Days like these perfectly capture what KVG is all about, great cars, great roads, wonderful scenery and, above all, fantastic company. Roll on the next adventure!
