The Kennet Valley Group enjoyed another cracking day out at the West Berkshire Classic Vehicle Club's annual Classic Car Show, helping to raise valuable funds in aid of Blood Cancer while proving once again that Triumph owners never need much of an excuse to get their cars out on a sunny day.

A splendid 12 vehicles flew the KVG flags, with 10 Triumph TRs joined by a rather rapid Volvo 850R and a very tidy MG TF LE500. The TR line-up looked superb throughout the day and attracted a steady stream of admirers, photographers and those inevitable visitors who began every conversation with, "I had one of those... I wish I'd never sold it!"

The show itself was a real feast for petrolheads. Everywhere you looked there was something different, from beautifully restored vintage tractors to jaw-dropping supercars, with just about every era and style of motoring represented in between. It was the sort of event where you wandered off for a quick look and resurfaced an hour later wondering how you'd ended up discussing carburettors with a complete stranger.

Away from the display cars, there was an excellent selection of autojumble and trade stalls selling everything from that elusive part you've been searching for over the last decade to gadgets you were convinced you couldn't live without. The food and refreshments were excellent, while a brass band provided the perfect soundtrack to a relaxed summer's day, fortunately loud enough to drown out any friendly debates over whether Lucas electrics deserve their reputation!

The sunshine was kind, the company was even better, and despite the usual pre-show checks, all ten TRs made it home under their own steam. Admittedly, a few may have marked their territory with the odd drop of oil, but as every Triumph owner knows, if there's no oil underneath it... there's probably no oil left inside it!

Joking aside, the real success of the day was the money raised in aid of Blood Cancer. Events like this remind us that classic cars bring people together not only to celebrate our shared passion but also to support truly worthwhile causes. Every exhibitor, volunteer and visitor played their part in making the event another tremendous success.
