London Group Social Scene as submitted for TR Action 363:

Well since the last report we have been rather busy, I suppose the first thing to mention was another Brooklands event in fact the Easter Gathering. From a Brooklands point of view, there were over 5,300 attendees which was a record for the event. We had about 30 TRs there, most were from TRLG but it was swelled by both the Thames Valley Group and a few more TRs which we picked up as they drove past! “Would you like to park with us” all in all it was a great event.

As I write we are preparing for Drive it Day Sunday 26th April, with the Goodwood Group at the Hollycombe Steam in the Country Event and of course the track day at Castle Coombe on Monday 27th April. As most of the Castle Coombe people will be travelling down on the Sunday, so they can be nice and early at the track, they will be attending another Drive It Day event nearer to the track.

On 3rd May a good number of us are booked into the 20th Anniversary Goodwood Breakfast event, so we should get some good pictures from that, so more about that in the next issue.

The other big thing that has happened in the last few weeks was the TRLG AGM, it was slightly sad with the passing of Alan Jones, who was a valued member of the Committee, that said after raising a glass to him we got on with it. As usual the meeting soon descended into lots of laughs and general mickey taking especially during our respective presentations prior to voting. Our new addition to the committee is Stuart Minster who was “gently persuaded” to take over the Treasurer role!

The TRLG committee is now:

  • Mark Bulford - Group Leader

  • Stuart Minster - Group Treasurer

  • Steve Bamforth - Group Members Secretary

  • David Boucher - Group Social Secretary

We’ve also had a couple of Plucky Breakfasts which as always is a superb breakfast along with parking at a real beauty spot, and of course full of banter, gossip and again mickey taking all in all both a good feed and most importantly a good laugh. In addition, we’ve had our monthly Group meetings at both Woodies and the Star, all of which have been well attended. Now with the weather getting better of course, that means more & more TRs are arriving in the Carpark!
