London Group - Social Scene for TR Action 360

28th November, 2025

Mark Bulford writes: To my absolute horror we at TRLG have missed the last couple of social scene reports. That last one being in issue 357 which talked about “Drive it Day.” Well of course no social scene report does not mean TRLG members have not been busy, in fact it’s quite the opposite.

June was a busy month with two events over the waters in France. The first was London Group’s annual pilgrimage to Laon with all it entails, lots of classic cars, a wonderful parade through the medieval town, lots of eating, merriment and drinking. Eight cars travelled from London to enjoy this event.

Our second June French trip of 2025 was a fantastic event organised by Alan Jones and more importantly Cécile Magnier to Bonelles in France. We stayed at Le Clocher de la Duchesse, a 5 bedroomed boutique hotel with ample parking and an incredible classic car collection. Six cars travelled there, the food at the hotel was superb, all eaten outside in the evening sun. Drive outs included a wonderful drive to visit Versailles Palace. Of course, lunch came first in a lovely French Bistro right next to the Palace followed by an incredible visit to it, one I would certainly recommend. A wonderful weekend.

July saw the third London Group visit to France with a trip to Classic Le Mans. Seven TRs plus a classic Porsche, Ferrari, Jaguar and Mark One Land Rover made it to our campsite. This year the main group decided to take a Wednesday ferry, staying in a hotel, then arriving fresh and ready to grab our campsite space early afternoon on Thursday. For the Parade lap, after rather an interesting exit from the campsite, we were led to the start and almost straight on to the track. The laps although called parade were far from a parade - fast, exciting and superb fun.

Returning back to UK, we also visited the Bromley Pageant with eight cars enjoying the July sun. The following week the beginning of August saw six London TRs attend the Goodwood Breakfast meet, a number of which even got into the paddock!!

Then later in the month 13 TRs along with a gazebo and the London Group flags, we attended the Capel show. Which I have to say was superbly organised and yet again the weather was superb, the drive from the Denbies Vineyards was fantastic although we were all rather surprised to see that Graeme’s wonderful TR6 was parked in a Tesla space, we thought maybe he’s had it converted!!!

Finally in August a number of the London Group attended the Egham Show, I am sorry this has become a bit of a chronological list, but just to finish off the events et cetera in addition to the above we had; 12 Group meetings,  3 Plucky breakfast meets at Newlands Corner, 2 mid-week lunch time “wrinklies” meets and finally Joe Galloway  and Mark Bulford completed the Club Triumph Round Britain Reliability Run in Joe’s fire breathing, ridiculously fast TR6.

You can find us on the first Thursday of the month at The Star Inn, Malden Rushett KT22 0DP or on the third Thursday at Woodies Freehouse, New Malden KT3 5DX. So, do come and join us for a noggin and a natter, you are most welcome. No need to turn up in a TR! Please keep an eye on your emails, WhatsApp and of course the TR Register website
