NATIONAL UPDATE

New appointments to the Management team

Geoff Timms -  Finance 

Geoff's background is that he is a retired IT professional with significant project management skills. He is a Parish Councillor with familiarity with large budgets and cost control

Andrew Suddards -  Strategy and Delivery

Andrew’s background is as a pilot in the RAF followed by a career in strategy development and consultation in industry, where he still works today

Emon Khan - Digital Strategy

Emon, has a long career in the tech sector lasting about 40 years working in the US, Europe and the UK.  He spent the last 14 years at Network Rail leading their Digital IT Strategy and Architecture

The Cleveland group membership welcomes them to the management team and look forward to hearing and working with them in future

TS2 Update

The club are actively looking at addressing concerns of members in relation to the cost of the proposed restoration work. An update on this progress will be coming out in the near future to all members but the final decision will still remain as a vote at the Annual members meeting in 2027.

Magazine

The club are looking at trying to improve the magazine whilst addressing concerns that members have raised about it, including cost and electronic options. To assist this process a questionnaire will be sent to every member. You don’t need to put your name on it but just click on the link and complete the survey. When you click the last button at the end it will automatically get sent and recorded. Deadline for the questionnaire to be in is 30th November please can I ask everyone to get involved. If anyone has any problems please let me know.

LOCAL UPDATE

Earlier this month I have agreed to be the chair person for the Group Leaders Strategy Meeting in 2027. This is an annual meeting for group leaders. The meeting is designed to be a forum for group leaders to assist in helping the Management team make decisions on the future direction of the club and discuss what the membership want the club to do, and also for us, as in the membership and group leaders, to be able to raise concerns and put solutions forward to assist in that process

Due to this new role I requested via the club Chairman Mick Forey, to be allowed to attend this years Management Strategy meeting. This was agreed by Mick and the meeting was held two weeks ago in Didcot. The purpose of me being there was to see how the management team operate and how we can ensure our ideas and concerns are discussed at the future Management Strategy Meeting in 2027. The role I have agreed to is a one year role before being passed onto another group leader in the club. 

As a result of this role I am now leading on the work around the questionnaire for the magazine, working closely with Andrew Suddard re strategy, and I’m also on a working group both for the TS2 project and the club Archives. If any member has any issues or ideas around the above please let me know.

Up And Coming Run

11th October - meet at 10.30am in Tesco Car park, Northallerton DL6 1NP

Our 'Put it to Bed Run' is a circular route from Northallerton to Bedale via Hamsterley Forest and Middleton in Teesdale. Please let Jonathan know of you wish to come by Friday 9th October and whether you would like to have Sunday lunch at the High Force Hotel.  Lunch will be at approx 12.30pm

Online Meetings

For those of you who are not able to join us at our regular meetings for whatever reason, during the winter we have online Teams meetings, which you can join from the comfort of your own home.  There are two upcoming Teams meetings on 20 October and 17 November, both at 7pm.  More details will appear on the website nearer the time. 

Annual Group Members Meeting / Next Months Meeting

The AGMM will be held on WEDNESDAY 4th November at  The Blue Bell Inn, Ingleby Cross, Northallerton DL6 3NF. Please note this is Wednesday night - not Tuesday!  Please let me know if there is anything you would like to discuss, or if you would like either to be on the committee, or to propose somebody. Meeting starts at 8pm.  Let me know if you want to book for a meal.

Christmas Meal

The Christmas meal will be on Tuesday 8th December at The Bay Horse 88 High St, Great Broughton, Middlesbrough TS9 7HA. Please let me know if you are coming so I can make the booking. This will also replace the normal monthly meeting which would otherwise have been on 1st December. The menu is due out end of October and I will forward it to everyone once I have received.
