Rare Triumph TR4A rolling chassis - solid restoration opportunity
Surplus to my TR4A rebuild, I am offering a US-imported rolling TR4A chassis that would make an excellent basis for a restoration or rebuild project.
It is currently set up with a live axle and rolling gear, but could be adapted to take IRS suspension with the right modifications. Please note that I do not have any IRS components.
Overall, the chassis appears to be in good condition for its age and has benefited from dry storage. As with any classic restoration part, I would recommend a full strip-down and blasting so it can be properly assessed. There is corrosion on the offside rear outrigger and a small hole near the nearside front leaf spring mount.
The chassis came from a complete US car imported around 1999, though not by me, and has no documentation or serial number. Since import, the car has been dry stored, and the chassis has remained in dry storage since I bought it in 2018. Importantly, the bodyshell sat well on this chassis with no rear-end sagging; I am only selling it because I am using a different chassis for my own rebuild.
Included in the sale are all the suspension, steering, wheels and rear axle parts shown in the photos, making this a useful rolling package rather than just a bare frame. These parts are untested. The T-shirt area looks a little messy in the pictures, but it appears to be covered in some form of heavy-duty corrosion protection.
The chassis is being sold as a complete rolling unit, and I am not prepared to strip or remove individual parts.
Good TR4A chassis are becoming increasingly hard to find, and this sound rolling example with live axle offers a practical and increasingly rare foundation for the right project.
