We are still having problems with our normal meeting place, the "Royal Oak".They are unable to open on a Monday and Tuesday nights due to lack of staff. This means we are still meeting at the "Cavalier" in Ravenfield, on the first Tuesday of the month. Now the evenings are drawing in, most of the time is spent indoors, but we are still getting a good attendance.Ian and Andrew were brave enough to arrive in their cars, putting us all to shame, as they both have a fair journey to cover, to our meetings.
Mike told us of his loss of compression in No5 cylinder, and when he removed his head, found a burnt out exhaust valve. The picture shows the head being filled with petrol and No 5 failing to hold it, whilst all the others did. His TR6 had not been made unleaded, and this is opportunity to have the head fitted with hardened seats his. He also removed the steering rack for repairs whilst he was in the mood, this should give him a good 2019 season. My own restoration is nearing completion, as the engine is now running, and I have ordered the seats, made in leather. Paul and I had to go over to "Martrim" in Cheshire, to try to match the leather with PVC, as not many leathers have a colour match. It is good that so many of us are using the winter months to improve our cars, for next years season.I will send out E mails nearer the time for Novembers meeting, and hope to see you there.
