Trip to the Lakes

Trip to the Lakes

The White Rose go to the Lakes

As part of this years outing list we all decided that a few days in the Lake District would be good for us. A small Hotel in Bowness, called "Storrs Gate House" had been recommended to us, and we managed to fill all their rooms. We met at the Wetherby Services, on the A1M, for the start of our four-day adventure. The route had been planned by Andrew, through Harewood, Ilkley and Skipton, keeping to the "A" roads, up to Windermere. A gentle run in the Sun, and a stop for something to eat, and we all arrived without any stress, at our destination.

A full day exploring Lake Windermere, on the Steamers, and going to the Lakeside car museum, filled our first day. The Second day being a group car run up to Keswick, taking in the local sites, such as "The Kirkstone Pass". A few hours around Keswick, for shopping and Jackie, finding Jeff's car had a "make-up" mirror (these T.R's have everything) gave us all a good laugh. Evenings were spent overlooking Lake Windermere, having group meals in the evening sunshine.

We were lucky enough to have dry warm weather for all our time spent there, and a sunny run home gave an end to this perfect outing.

Only slightly spoilt by one of our cars loosing its Rota Arm in Ilkley, on the way home, and having to return behind an AA van. It does show that any spares need to be carried, as local shops no longer carry anything for our cars. We all had many spares with us, but not a Rota Arm, but next time we will.
