WHARFEDALE GROUP HOWARTH HADDOCK OUTING 28th APRIL 2018

The Keighley & Worth Valley Railway run a periodic Saturday night steam train called the Howarth Haddock. It runs from Oxenhope to Keighley and back, twice. There is a Real Ale Bar on board, 2 actually, and yes Fish & Chips are served during the run with bread & butter and the usual accoutrements.

So, on the 28th April, 20 Group members saw themselves on Oxenhope platform waiting for the train, non of us quite knew what to expect, but what a great fun night it was, on the last run the train stopped in Keighley for about an hour and a quarter while a live band played Rock n Roll music on the platform, with people dancing the night away, others just moved around nearly in time with the music.

The train arriving in Oxenhope, unfortunately it was one of the KWVR American Steamers, but still steam.

We departed Oxenhope at 7.15 pm, and made the final stop back in Oxenhope at 11pm, an atmospheric gas lit station platform, at the end of a great evening.

We all had a Whale of a time, sorry no pun intended, and are talking of making it a yearly event, it certainly got Ken's vote, but then again anything that has Fish n Chips as part of an evening out gets Ken's attention.
