My Group report for TR Action no. 334: Peter Sloss

2021 saw the Trent Group celebrating its 50 birthday and for the last 20 years, Ian Viles has been the stalwart Group Leader. However, following Ian’s move to Lincolnshire last year, he decided it was time to hand over the Group Leader’s baton. Despite the fact that I’ve only been a TR owner for 4.5 years, the regular attendees of the monthly meetings suggested that I should take up that baton.

Having missed out on an AGM in 2020 for obvious reasons, the group AGM was organised for October this year. Since no other nominations for the role of Group Leader were received, I found myself elected as the new Group Leader! Thanks are due to Paul Tunnadine for overseeing the AGM and to Ian for his many years of running the Trent Group; I hope I can serve the group as successfully as Ian.

Thanks are also due to Barry Pochin for volunteering to continue as Group Treasurer and Frank Richardson, who had the group’s show banner and windscreen sticker updated to celebrate the group’s 50th birthday.

Mid-October saw three group members head out to the last car show of the season at Thoresby Hall in North Nottinghamshire where we met up with Barry and Hazel Cockayne, from Derbyshire Dales group, and enjoyed a gloriously sunny day amidst an eclectic mix of cars. At least seven Triumphs were in attendance which can be seen leaving the event in a Youtube video courtesy of Cars of England entitled ‘Retro Cars Leaving a Car Show in Style (Thoresby Park Classic Car Show October 2021)!!!’

A warm welcome is extended to our newest member, Tim Press, who has acquired a 1971 TR6 and we look forward to seeing him at future meetings.

I’ll close this by wishing all readers a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and look forward to a much more adventurous 2022.
