Shropshire Group Autumn Run 2017
Shropshire Group Activities in October 2017
As well as our attendance at the Cholmondeley Castle Show, September saw several Shropshire Group members visiting France for the 2017 TR Euromeet in Dijon. From Burgundy they travelled to Charantes for The Circuit des Ramparts d'Anglouleme. A good time was had by all – without mishaps!
Both the September and October Club Nights were well attended. We have a number of new members recently and were pleased to welcome Barry Carson and David King to our October meeting. Barry has bought Graham Cox's TR6 and David is the proud new owner of a TR4A.
Alderford Lake Breakfast Meeting, organised by Malcolm Ling, was attended by 200 assorted classic cars of all ages. These included an Amphicar, which navigated the lake, as well as the usual good turnout of Shropshire Group and Stoke Group TRs. Malcolm had arranged a run and many members took part.
The 15th October saw 14 cars set out from Telford on a run to the Classic Car Meeting at Combermere Abbey. Once there, we were joined by 3 other Shropshire TRs and several from the Stoke Group. 140 cars attended the meet and the proceeds went to charities nominated by the High Sheriff of Cheshire. The Abbey was purchased by Sir Kenneth Crossley in 1919 and the current owner is his great granddaughter. It was fitting that there were Crossley cars on display including the family's own limousine. We went to The Bhurtpore Inn in Aston for a late lunch.
On the same day a few Shropshire Group members joined Stoke Group for their run to the Manifold Valley.
Our Autumn Run took place on 29th October. 27 cars set out from Shrewsbury on a cross country route through the Wyre Forest to Bodenham Arboretum. Fantastic colours! 42 people sat down for a late Sunday Lunch at The Plume of Feathers near Much Wenlock.
Roger & David attended the TR Register AGM at Puckrup Hall and they will report back to the Group at the next Club Night on Wednesday 8th November.
Finally (and at long last) Roger's TR6 is back on the road! It went into Minsterley Garage in February for minor work on the sills and eventually saw daylight on 11th October. During that period every inner panel was repaired or replaced and Roger's bank balance was seriously depleted. Ouch! PMR 6M had its debut at Combermere Abbey and was appreciated by all. Many thanks to all who lent cars and seats during this down time.
Our next event will be The Turkey Trot on 3rd December.
This edition of TR Action will not hit your door mats until mid-December. So the Shropshire Group would like to wish every TR owner and enthusiast all the best for the Festive Season.
