Highland Group

Sadly on 6th October Robert “Bob “ Milton passed away whilst out for a walk near his home on the ourskirts of Inverness. Bob was, along with his wife Christine, leaders of the Highland TR Group.

I have known Bob for over 10 years, everyone who knew Bob found him to be a friendly, kind and helpful man.

Bob was at his best when surrounded by friends and the classic cars that he loved and was always happy to have a “bleather” and although not a mechanic to trade Bob had a great knowledge of cars, especially classics. He had ‘fixed up’ many over the years and was always willing to help anyone with his skills and never ending stock of spare parts that he had gathered over a lifetime. If you needed a hand with your TR he would be there.

His knowledge not only extended to mechanics, but he was known to members in the club as “ Sat-Nav Bob “ as he knew the Highlands roads like the back of his hand. He acquired this from his days on the lorries with the Waverley vintners, delivering beer barrels all across the Highlands and many a tale he told of his times on the narrow roads up and down the west coast.

Bobs passing was a shock and a great loss to the club , his family and friends.

He was well liked and respected locally which was evident at his funeral where hundreds gathered to pay their respects.
