CHANGE OF VENUE FOR THIS WEDNESDAYS MEETING AND EVENT UPDATE
Hi all,
the weather looks to be holding for a few more days so Ridgeway is taking up an offer for a drive out to meet friends from Chiltern group on Wednesday evening instead of meeting at the BlackHorse.
This from GL Peter Bowden:
Our next meeting is this coming Wednesday evening, 17th July, at The Clifden Arms, Clifden Road, Worminghall, HP18 9JR. Seewww.theclifdenarms.co.uk for menus and directions.
This is now a community owned pub (it was bought by some locals last year) and has a good beer garden (if the weather is warm enough), the food is good and there is a large car park for our use too. We last went there some years ago and had a good time then and it will be good to support another community owned pub.
If anyone wants to meet up first and arrive together let me know, if not make your own way there.
I have received a plea for much needed help at the International Weekend on the 16th – 18th August at Stratford upon Avon Racecourse -
"As you know the TRR major event of the year is few weeks away and as usual we need some help over the weekend, because of the layout of Stratford upon Avon racecourse it means a lot of help is needed, I have been asked to ask for 10 helpers from the South Central Area to help out Marshalling etc., during the event and of course, the more helpers we get the less 'shift' time per person.
Taking Group Leaders attending as expected, can you ask for volunteers please within your membership that are attending please, the idea is a 'shift' of 1 hour max, however should a member commit to 4 hours in one day, the TRR offers a free entry ticket to those full or family member
I thank you and your members in anticipation and look forward to hearing back from you as soon as possible, many thanks for your assistance.
Many Thanks for your help,"
If you are going to the International and are able to give some time, it would be much appreciate. Please let me know. You can book your tickets now at www.triumphweekend.com and please note that advance tickets have a significant discount over the gate price.
I have also been asked for number of members likely to attend the triumph weekend for catering purposes.
A couple of other reminders, tickets for the Cotswold Hub BBQ this Saturday closes for sales later today, so hurry if you want some.
Members of the group usually visits the White Horse Show Classic Car and Country show on August Bank Holiday Monday, but we have also been invited to the Cowley Classic Car show which has changed its date this year:
Cowley Classic Car Show
Bank Holiday Monday 26th August
Cutteslowe Park, Harbord Road Oxford
If you have not yet entered, there is still time to enter and get your vehicle details in the programme. The cut off to be included in the programme is 31st July. There is no entry fee, we just ask that you consider a donation to our charities. This year the main beneficiary will be Restore, a mental health charity – www.restore.org.uk.
You are of course very welcome to just turn up on the day. Please arrive before 11.00am when the show opens to the public.
If you have already entered – thank you – your entry card will be mailed in early August.
As part of the celebration of 60 years of the Mini there will be a convoy of 60 Minis from the Mini plant in Cowley to Cutteslowe Park leaving the Cowley plant at 10.00. This replaces our normal all makes convoy.
Any Mini owner wishing to join the convoy should contact Tanya Field at 07929 868284 ortanyafield999@gmail.com.
Every entrant in the show will be considered for a prize in one of 12 categories. This year we have added a prize for best Mini.
Other attractions include electric go karts, laser clays, children's rides, vintage bus rides a fun dog show – enter on the day - and much more including food and drink and a range of stalls selling a variety of items.
