TS2 Round Britain Relay - Red Rose Stage

TS2 Round Britain Tour 23rd-25th June

The TS2 Red Rose Stage of the round Britain Tour has been set up to ensure that all of the Red Rose members and any of our bordering groups have an opportunity to not only see TS2 but experience the joys of driving the UK’s earliest side screen car.

We will be covering the southern section of the region on Thursday 23rd of June moving north on Friday 24th and finally handing over to the Cumbria Group late morning on Saturday the 25th.

We very much hope that as many of you as possible will join us at one of the points along the way.

Thursday 23rd June

We will be collecting TS2 from North Wales group on the 23rd June. The car will be going through hand over checks in the afternoon.

4:30pm to 7pm - Your first opportunity to see and use TS2.

TS2 will be taking up residence at the Cock @ Budworth for the evening where members can come and have the opportunity to take the car out on a short run in the local area. Our usual meeting room at the pub will be available for us to gather in and have a drink and some food if you so wish.

Friday 24th June

Many of you will be aware that TR2’s swept the board with overall 1st, 2nd and 5th place finishes at the 1954 RAC British International Rally”.

In recognition of this achievement Friday’s event will feature a run through some of the most scenic areas of rural Lancashire taking in sections of the 1954 RAC British International Rally. There will be a number of stop off points on route where members will have the opportunity to take TS2 out for a short run. TS2 will then be returning to Garstang.

Route books will be available on the day with basic instructions. The route is also available to view on the Tom Tom ‘My Drives’ web site. Instructions below.

It you have a Tom Tom SAT Nav and register with Tom Tom you will be able to download the route onto your sat nav but don’t worry if you haven’t as a route book will be available on the day.

Itinerary Friday 24th June

10:30-11:00 - Barton Grange Garden Centre car park, meeting 10:30 for 11am departure

Garstang Road, Brock, Preston Sat Nav use PR3 0RB

12 amOptional pick-up point, Edisford Road car park Clitheroe

Sat Nav BB7 2FE

12:30 – 1:45* - Dunsop Bridge, lunch break (picnic or tea room) opportunity to take out TR2

3:00 - 3:30* - Slaidburn, break and opportunity to take out TR2

4:30* - 5:00 - Barton Grange Garden Centre car park,

5:30 - 6:30 - Guys Thatched Hamlet, final opportunity to see TS2

*Please note that times are estimated and may vary depending on traffic conditions however the 11am start from and 4:30pm return Barton grange garden centre are fixed and the intermediate times vary. If you are at a venue and we are a little late please bear with us.

Saturday 25th June

Saturday will comprise of a run out to The Lakeland Motor Museum arriving approx. 11:15 to handover TS2 to The Cumbria Group. The Cumbria Group have arranged for a reception at the Lakeland Motor Museum with local press in attendance.

From around mid-day TS2 will be making its way north through the Lakes and anyone joining us will be free to join the Cumbria Group for the run or visit the Motor Museum. If you haven’t been to the Lakeland Motor Museum before it is well worth visiting, we can personally recommend the scones in the café.

Itinerary Saturday 25th June

9:30am - Meet at Guys Thatched Hamlet for a 9:45 departure heading north On A6, M6 followed by a scenic route to the Lakeland Motor Museum Newby Bridge.

11:15am - Lakeland Motor Museum Newby Bridge, handover to Cumbria Group.

Mid-day – Optional Cumbria run north through Lakes or Motor Museum visit and return home.

Boring but important stuff

The above itinerary has been put together to try and provide as much opportunity as possible for all NW members to see and experience TS2. We do urge as many of you possible to try and join us at some point during TS2’s journey through the North West.

Below are the criteria that must be met by all drivers to maintain the validity of the insurance cover for TS2:

• Drivers must be members of the TR Register (which includes family members)

• All drivers of TS2 must be over 30

• All drivers must not have any claims or convictions unless they are existing TR Register Insurance clients

• All drivers must hold a full UK driving license for over 3 years
