Red Rose Bulletin - August 2020

RED ROSE AUGUST BULLETIN

Life In Lock Down Month five!

Hi everyone!

Well August is upon us already and it’s surprising how quickly time flies when you have nowhere to go and not much to do! At least the sun has put in appearance over the last few days!

As we go into our fifth month of this pandemic some of us are back in lockdown for now but the rest of us have a bit more freedom.

We can go to the pub and out for a meal or even go on holiday but sadly we can’t go ice skating or to the circus just yet!

Important Announcement!

As I am sure you are all too well aware many shops and businesses haven’t survived the lockdown and sadly our local cinema The Woolton Picture House has announced it may have to close.

Therefore sadly our planned lunch and cinema visit on 18 th October will have to be cancelled.

The owners are looking into the possibility of applying for a grant to help with the running of the cinema. The cinema’s future is by no means certain but we may be able to rearrange our visit for 2021.

Hopefully there will be a lot going on in 2021 to keep us all busy!

Oulton Park Update!

As far as we understand The Gold Cup at Oulton Park is currently still going ahead, however as you all will be aware there has been a spike in corona virus cases in the North West and this combined with a possible change in government guidance may ultimately prohibit spectator attendance. At the moment we are hopeful that the event will go ahead and if anything changes we will email members direct and put a post on Facebook.

There is still time to register for free entry for car and driver on Saturday, Sunday and bank holiday Monday.

If you would like a ticket you must email Bob Eccles (bob.eccles237@gmail.com) before Friday 14th August

All being well we will be able to have an enjoyable socially distanced day in the sun.

Exciting News! International returns to Malvern!

I am very pleased to inform everyone that the International will once again be held in Malvern in 2021 on the 4 th to 6th of June.

This is a very popular location and for those of you wanting to book accommodation I advise you to do so sooner rather than later! We have already booked ours!

A venue has also been secured for 2022 when we shall all be off to Stafford!

Hopefully by then COVID will be a distant memory. All details are available on the TR Register website.

The Cock at Budworth Reopens!

The pub has now reopened and we will update you on when our meetings can resume as soon as we get more guidance from The TR Register.

Looking forward

With so many events cancelled this year we all need something to look forward to.

Below are some events you might like to attend. We will keep you informed if any of them are cancelled due to a spike in corona virus cases resulting in local lock downs or if government guidelines change.

NEW DATE! Weaver Wander

This event has now been rescheduled for Saturday 12th September.

The details below are taken from their website.

We are pleased to announce that the rapidly improving situation concerning the COVID-19 pandemic in the UK has allowed us to now proceed with this year’s Weaver Wander on Saturday, 12th September.

We have conducted a series of detailed assessments on the health risks associated with the event, focusing principally on the registration and collection of cars and entrants at Nantwich Football Club, along with the arrangements & plans for the destination at Hankelow Hall.

We can still carry out registration inside the football club and all that will change will be the implementation of a ‘one way in – one way out’ system along with the required social distancing measures in the club. We can allow access to the lift in the front entrance for people who need it & tea/coffee and bacon baps will be available. There will be extensive provision of hand sanitizers etc on site and comprehensive signage everywhere.

The facilities at Hankelow Hall will be held in the ‘open air’, we will be able to ensure that we meet the recommended ‘social separation’ requirements, particularly with regard to the catering and toilet facilities. Again, hand sanitizers will be provided throughout the site & we will be assisting with appropriate ‘distancing’ in the parking of the cars.

We will be contacting all entrants, who have provided us with their entries, separately by E-mail, to confirm that the postponed event is proceeding as planned. If any of the current entrants are not able to attend on the 12th September, we are able to offer refunds.

Naturally, we are delighted that we can proceed with this year’s Wander after a long period of inactivity and we are confident that the precautions we are taking are fully in line with the current Government COVID-19 guidelines and we will ensure that the staging of the event is completely safe.

We have planned 3 separate routes comprising:

Two 80 mile routes and a 50 mile route for older cars & those of you who may wish to have a rather more relaxing day of motoring.

We will hold the Registration at Nantwich Football Club under strict adherence to the latest COVID-19 guidelines, which we will detail in early September.

Unfortunately, we will not now be able to hold the ‘Start Parade’ through the centre of Nantwich, as in previous years, due to the restrictions on traffic movement through the centre of Nantwich.

We have been asked if there is any age limit on cars/vehicles that can be entered for the Weaver Wander – answer – there are no age limits & all we require is that the car/vehicle is ‘Road Legal’. We also welcome motor bikes and we had two very interesting entries last year.

Our plans for this year’s Wander will take us again to Hankelow Hall and further details of the arrangements at Hankelow will be announced early in September.

BEAR TOWN ROAD CRUISE 27TH SEPTEMBER

The following information is taken from their Facebook page.

The cruise will be open to all treasured vehicles including, classics, exotica and customs, trucks & bikes. The objectives of the event to have FUN stay SAFE and raise MONIES for the new Macclesfield Christie Cancer Centre.

The cruise will commence from Congleton Town Centre and head for Tatton Park by way of Jodrell Bank. After a relaxing break at Tatton Park we would head back to the picturesque Gawsworth Hall. There will be no entry fee charged to Bear Town Road Cruisers to Tatton Park or Gawsworth Hall.

All in all it should be a leisurely 1.5 hours road time covering some 50 miles. There will be a £20 fee for each car entered, and all monies raised will go to the nominated charity. Of course, in addition to the entry fee, individuals can plan to raise additional funds themselves - all monies will be greatly appreciated! Should you wish to participate or help out at the event, please email: va.btroadcruise@gmail.com

End Of Year Run

We are very much hoping that we will be able to have a run towards the end of the year and any suggestions would be most welcome. We have already had a few emails suggesting a meet up for a picnic.

PLANS FOR 2021

2020 is proving to be a bit of a wash out in terms of car events so we all need to look ahead to next year more than ever and start making plans!

Suggestions so far include a holiday to France, A weekend in Wales with a visit to Portmeirion and the ever popular Coast to Coast. If you have anything you would like us to look into doing in 2021 please email us at trredrose@hotmail.com You all have plenty of time to come up with ideas so get your thinking caps on!

We will be back next month with another bulletin and hopefully we will see some of you at one the remaining planned events. STAY ALERT AND STAY SAFE! AND DONT FORGET YOUR MASK!
