Red Rose Bulletin - March 2020

RED ROSE MARCH BULLETIN

Well it’s certainly been a bit of a wet and windy start to 2020 but hopefully the storms are now behind us. There is finally a feel of spring in the air and it’s time to think about getting out your TR. Many Red Rose members have been working away on their cars over the winter months and we look forward to seeing them in all their glory very soon.

First some very important news and booking information re the North West 50th Anniversary celebrations

NORTH WEST GROUP 50TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION – AUGUST BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND INCLUDING OULTON PARK GOLD CUP

As you will be aware the TR Register is celebrating its 50th birthday this year and regional groups, Red Rose, Stoke, Shropshire, Cumbria and North Wales, have been asked to get together and plan an event. Our regional director Bob Eccles has tasked Red Rose with organising the venue for the joint event.

The North West celebrations will take place over the August Bank Holiday Weekend, 29th to 31st August, and will incorporate the Oulton Park Gold Cup.

The event will be centred around the MacDonald Portal Golf Hotel, Cobblers Cross Lane Tarporley, Cheshire, CW6 0DJ. This 4* hotel has a golf course and gym as well as a spa and swimming pool. www.macdonaldhotels.co.uk/our- hotels/north-england/chester/ macdonald-portal-hotel-golf- spa

Plans for the weekend are ongoing but include a group meet up for lunch and run on the Sunday afternoon, complimentary tickets for the Oulton Park Gold Cup weekend for car and driver, group dinner Sunday evening with entertainment / music and prizes, TR Register Stand at the Gold Cup on Monday with alternatives options for those who may not want to attend the Gold Cup.

We have secured a rate of £169.00 for the Sunday night (30th August), DB&B for two people at The Portal Hotel Golf and Spa which is only a few miles from the track.

All the bedrooms are away from the function rooms and those on the upper floors have lift access. All the rooms have a king sized bed with a bath and shower.

For those who may want to attend the event but do not want to stay at the hotel we have agreed a rate of £25 per head for the evening dinner and complimentary tickets for car and driver for the Gold Cup weekend will be available to all TR Register members.

Alternative accommodation is also available including camping – email trredrrose@hotmail.com if you would like to confirm your place for evening meal only or if you would like details of alternative accommodation.

There are lots of options for everyone to take part and join us so why not give it a go and come along and join us on Sunday afternoon or for the evening meal or just join us at the Gold Cup.

If you would like to book a room at the hotel please ring Portal Hotel Golf and Spa on 0344 879 9082 Monday-Friday 9.00am-5.00pm Press 1 for bookings and 3 for group bookings, ask for Alice or Chloe then ask to book in for The TR Register Event. You will need to pay a £50 deposit to secure your room with the balance due on check out.

60% of the 30 room allocation have been taken in the first five days and we would advise booking sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment as we cannot guarantee availability of rooms after the 31st March.
