Social Scene Oct 2015
N. Wales TR Group report Oct 2015.
The HSCC Gold Cup was held at Oulton Park over August bank holiday weekend, and we joined forces with Red Rose Group for a very enjoyable outing. Monday did not have the best weather, but overall there was some very good racing and many cars on display on the infield.
Our September meeting at The Griffin was enlivened when large numbers of Police motorbikes passed the pub, closing off side roads to traffic. It turned out to be the Tour of Britain cycle race on their first leg from Beaumaris to Wrexham, and we had a grandstand view!
The latest event has been The Walled Towns Run, on 4th October. This is an annual gathering of up to 150 pre-1973 cars, starting in Denbigh and passing through Conwy and Beaumaris to finally gather in Caernarfon. The day was beautiful and sunny as we all drove through glorious Welsh scenery – a great day out. The event is organised by and on behalf of the North Wales Walled Towns Friendship Circle, and the Mayors from the towns were on hand to judge and award prizes. Nine cars from this group attended, and congratulations must go to Malcolm and Anne for being awarded a prize in the Best Sports Car category. Well done!
