TR Action London Group report for issue 342
David Boucher writes:- So it’s been a quieter couple of months since the last report, partly because of a couple of events on our calendar being cancelled through no fault of our own, most notably the Kempton Steam Museum Classic Car show in mid-September (due to the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth) which is always a popular event for our club.
To make up for this, we have had plenty of smaller club drive-out get-togethers, the first being the Black Swan at Ockham on 11th September - always a good classic car gathering for breakfast. The following weekend was, of course, the Goodwood Revival where several of our members made their way down in lovely weather. With good weather of this year continuing, we had another breakfast drive out to the Plucky Pheasant at Newlands Corner on the second Sunday of October. It was a cracking morning AND nobody broke down!
Meantime, our WhatsApp group had been recently alive with discussion about what was the most beautiful classic car - interesting messages and suggestions were swapped with the thought of preparing a top 10 before deciding that could be too divisive!!
Otherwise it was a quiet month with just our fortnightly meetings. The committee however had been busy in this respect searching for a replacement venue for the first Thursday of the month - The Rose of York had lots shine somewhat due to the surrounding 20mph speed limit and speed bumps, and the closure of its kitchen. Eventually, we settled on the Winning Post on the A316 at Whitton and the first full club meeting was held there on Thursday, 3rd November to great approval. So much so that it will be the venue for our forthcoming Christmas Dinner.
So finally, then come and join us for a noggin and a natter over a beer, you are most welcome. See our upcoming dates below - please keep an eye on your emails or on the web site http://www.tr-register.co.uk/g...; and don’t forget, it’s the Winning Post, Chertsey Rd (A316), Whitton, Twickenham TW2 6LS on the first Thursday of the month, and the Star, Kingston Rd, Leatherhead KT22 0DP on the third Thursday of the month.
