TR Action Report London Group presented for issue 292
As I write final fettling is taking place for various trips to Classic Le Mans that Bi annual extravaganza of all things vehicular. Classics from the 1900's glorious roadsters from the 20's & 30's not much from the 40's! Then the gorgeous flowing fifties, the groovy film star studded 60's then the muscle cars of the 70's and now 80's BRILLIANT. I think we all know where we are going but I know of at least 4 different routes all finally arriving at our track side campsite but more about that in next month's report. So what happened in May and June, well after the successful drive it day in April we all felt it was time for a rest so what did we do? We went off in all directions. A number set off for our annual pilgrimage to the classic SPA Francochamps weekend, a number off to Laon for their classic anniversary weekend both events being memorable and generally well organised. One bizarre thing that happened at SPA this year was that the tees dropped their pollen it was like soft sand covering everything in a light brown grainy powder you'd clean it off your car, table or umbrella and by the time you had finished - light brown again. Saturday night however saw a massive storm, thunder lightning and gales. Sunday all was calm and the pollen was gone. So on to June our first meeting was our AGM many topics were covered and discussed, with actions to be taken, then of course the vote no change was the result, so as you were, although a request did go out for more volunteers' to join our committee. Later in the Month 5 cars joined the 400 odd at the Hanworth Classic held in Royal Bushy Park. This show how has grown massively in the last 3 years mainly because of the space available and that it is located within a very popular Royal Park. The weather was kind and all day friends visiting the park came and said hello, plus the interest in the cars was constant often very knowledgeable questions were asked a really good day out.
Finally then, come and join us for a noggin and a natter over a beer, you are most welcome. You can find us on the first Thursday of every month at the Rose of York in Richmond or on the third Thursday at an alternative venue (keep an eye on the web site) - both start from about 8:30pm
