TR Lincolnshire Virtual Drive It Day -2020

TR Lincolnshire Virtual Drive It Day -2020

Hello everyone,

We live in very strange times and I'm sure, just like me, wondering when it will all end?

Today would have been the 2020 Drive It Day outing where many of us would have joined in the first run of this season. Well that isn't going to happen so instead I offer you our TR Lincs Virtual Drive It Day through the video below. Many of us would of course been at Revesby today for Lincolnshire County Wheels held in aid of the Lincolnshire Air Ambulance. Malcolm Brown has set up a fundraising page (here) if you would like to contribute to help replace some of the lost donations that would have gone to the Air Ambulance, you can also leave "a bit of a car" on the facebook page! Despite the lockdown I know many of you have seized the opportunity to do all those long list of jobs, and some you had only just thought of, to get the car sorted for the time when we can all be out and about again. You have been busy and you'll see how industrious you've all been in the gallery further in the newsletter.

Some good news, we have new TR Lincs members who have had the good sense to join the best local TR group in the country. A big welcome to Gerry and Susan Wareham who join us from South Leverton just outside Retford. Gerry has just acquired a TR6 and also owns a Morgan, although of course we'll forgive him that! Also welcome to Brian Jones from Skelingthorpe, Lincoln who has only recently become the owner of a TR6 that he's looking to restore and is keen to learn as much as he can from us. Sadly it's not the best time to be joining us but as soon as the shackles are released we hope to welcome them into the fold properly.

Now I have some early news of an exciting event that is planned for later in the year to show our support for the work that the NHS and other caring organisations have given through the whole virus episode. The national event entitled " TRiumph over Covid-19" will see each local group on the same day (yet to be decided) take part in a parade through their own patch to pay our TRibute to the fantastic work done. The idea is to convoy up in our cars, all suitably decked out, ideally with a medical professional alongside and with a police escort, parade through the city/town centres and drive by hospital(s) to show our appreciation. As we speak plans are being pulled together and special rally plaques being designed to purchase shortly from the TR shop with all profit going to the NHS charities. There will be much more on this once we have an idea when we could undertake this event across the country.

Don't forget the photographic competition highlighted in the last newsletter. Just because we're not driving doesn't mean you can't bag a few good TR related pics.

Keep safe
