LTRG New Year Gathering 2020

LTRG went all out with the Bond theme with 57 people attending the event including family members (Ben and Lisa Ward; James and Danni Faulkner); a number of guests – Howard and Loretta (London), Alfred and Pat (Cotswolds), Gary and Leanne (TRGB) and the Lincolnshire group came in force with a table of 10 (David and Celia; Adrian and Mags; Julia and Tim; and Sue and Nick). There was a great turnout of Bond characters including a bevy of attractive ladies – Honey Ryder, Domino, and Aki along with a collection of sultry and glamorous ladies dressed to kill. Irene looked brilliant as Dolly (Jaws girlfriend) sporting a particularly fetching pair of plaits. Heather looked brilliant as Bloefeld’s cat – she made her costume (I believe out of a sheet!), clever girl.

The men covered all aspects of the Bond theme with a number of debonaire JBs, villains aplenty and a couple of geeky Qs (totally in character for Robert). Mick and Brian looked very sinister as skeletons from Day of the Dead and kept eerily popping up when least expected. Tony managed to look equal parts sinister and attractive as Emilio Largo. John H brought a Middle Eastern vibe as Sheikh Hosein from The Spy Who Loved Me; and Reg, resplendent in his kilt, gave Sean Connery as James Bond a run for his money.

Thanks to Diljit for sorting the quiz – it was a real challenge and sparked a lot of avid discussion across the room.

The raffle prizes were excellent (big thanks to Andy for sorting these) and The raised £400 for the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance (DLRAA) – thank you to everyone who put their hands in their pockets to support this worthwhile charity. Rather than donating a raffle prize, Howden’s, Market Harborough, donated a cheque for £200 to DLRAA; and add our Christmas card fundraiser of £114 - we have raised a total of £714 for this great cause.
