A grand day out to Crich Tramway Museum
The first run out of the year for the Leicestershire group was to the Crich Tramway Museum. We were joined by members of Nene Valley, Derbyshire Dales and Wharfedale groups to made a truly grand day out.
There were 19 cars in all on a glorious day with plenty of sunshine to make the cars gleam. Tony had arranged for us to park within the museum and for the drivers to have free entry. He also fixed a splendid lunch in the upstairs room of the pub. The local beer slipped down a treat.
The museum told a fascinating story of the rise and fall of the tram system with examples from the UK, continental Europe and the USA. The workshops could be viewed from a gallery and we got a ride on an old tram.
